So I have been doing lots of research and have come up with all the influences, inspirations, and other such things that made the "unique" characters in LF2. Now, we know for one, that Marti stated that the game was heavily inspired by the Anime and Manga, Dragonball Z. That is why most of what I'm about to say next, revolves around coming from that.

So I have been doing lots of research and have come up with all the influences, inspirations, and other such things that made the "unique" characters in LF2. Now, we know for one, that Marti stated that the game was heavily inspired by the Anime and Manga, Dragonball Z. That is why most of what I'm about to say next, revolves around coming from that.
Because Davis is the main character, we'll start with him. First of all, 95% of all research is based on the hair of the character. Davis's hair closely resembles Gohan's hair in the Buu Saga (basically older Gohan) So yeah, Davis = Gohan. Now the creator of DBZ originally wanted to turn Gohan into the main character after the defeat of Cell, but because of fans, Goku continued to dominate that position, this shows that Marti's favourite DBZ character may have likely been Gohan, and not Goku. From all the fandom and LFO research, Davis is often portrayed as a serious leader-type, who may be a little arrogant. Which is sort of like Gohan, if you think about it.
Davis's attack, "Dragon Punch" although probably originating from Ryu's attack in Street Fighter, probably came from Goku's "Dragon Fist" attack in DBZ. The blue is probably influenced from Ryu himself however, so generally Davis is a fusion of Ryu and Gohan.
Woody's hair closely resembles a Super Saiyan Goku, now Woody is a tough one because we are unsure if Woody is supposed to be the main rival of Davis. Goku is the father of Gohan but Woody is definitely not "fatherlike" to Davis. Vegeta is the rival of Goku, but Vegeta is who we given Deep. Deep sometimes is the rival of Davis (or also the rival of Rudolf), so Woody is definitely a tough one. However, the fact that he resembles Davis in clothing could indicate, that like Ken of SF, Woody would be the "recoloured" rival, although personality being no factor at all.
Woody's attacks are mainly tiger based, according to the chinese legend, the tiger and the dragon are enemies, this further brings up the point of rivalry between Woody and Davis.
As for Dennis, his name we've compared the "Dennis the Menace", as Dennis in fandoms and heavily the LFO tandem, is very childish. He is often seen as the younger brother or just young in general. There has been no known indication of how he is related in DBZ except the fact that he is seen as young suggests that he could be Goten. The reason is, Goten is very identical, especially the hair, to Goku as a child, and in LFO, Dennis's hair is very similar to Woody's hair, which is another reason why Goten would match him. Also, Davis is often the older brother of Dennis, and if Davis is Gohan then logical states Dennis as Goten.
There is no animal for Dennis, but he has the lion in LFO. Dennis's attack, whirlwind kick is basically one of Ryu's attacks, also suggesting that Dennis has some sort of relation to Davis, who has a different attack of Ryu's. The way he always kicks could also lead him to Chun-Li, which amuses me for some reason, xP
Louis has an "extra" form, kind of like...a super saiyan. He does not only look like a super saiyan in general, but I think he looks like Trunks or Brolly's super saiyan form, Trunks owns a sword and Louis EX owns a trident, but the fact that Louis hides his hidden power suggests Brolly as well. Louis represents the "super saiyan" of LF2 (while Firzen represents the fusion of LF2), but if I had to compare him to a character it'd either be Mirai Trunks or super saiyan Brolly.
Louis' attacks, particularly whirlwind throw, mimics all the default throw attacks in every arcade fighting game ever made, Louis seems to be a very universal character in that fashion. He also throws thunder punches that does resemble a certain attack, (that I forgot, >>)
Deep is definitely a Vegeta, what with his whole expression and hair and fashion style. There hasn't been a fandom found where he actually rivals Woody, but Deep does seem to rival Davis in both LFO and some fandoms of LF2, the fact that Deep gets a "super form" in LFO and has it released just after Davis pretty much indicates his "rivalry" importance to the game. Deep also seems to concentrate on power a lot, so basically he seems like that cocky rival bastard that does all he can to win.
His attacks are based on his sword, and in terms of a swordsman, that I do not have much knowledge of but you know what I mean when I compare Deep.
Firen, Firen is too hard. Screw Firen. (closest would be Goten, young Goten, Dennis is more of GT Goten)
Freeze would be kid Trunks, simply because his hair somewhat looks like SSJ Trunks' hair. Although in terms of overall looks and completely abandoning the point of inspiration, Freeze looks like Kai. Freeze also looks a bit like GT Goten, but Freeze also has the Piccolo cape, which Kai looks like. (Kai seems to be based of Piccolo a lot) So yeah, Piccolo...Kai, Kid Trunks, yeah.
As for his attacks, they're all pretty unique, besides the sword that practically every ice-thing has used.
John, well, before I start saying...OMGZ HARRY POTTER or something, if I am forced to choose someone from DBZ, it'd be kid Gohan when he grew his hair out, because the hair is similar (and the cape...) anyway...Harry Potter. Lol. But really, when the whole LF2 was created, heck, when LF1 was created, John did not have long hair, in fact I bet he was portrayed after Gohan with short hair at that point. Either way that's the only thing I can think of related to DBZ. Otherwise he is very unique since he came BEFORE Harry Potter...I hope? (For trivia, LF1 came around 1994/1995, and he turned into Harry Potter because LFO came after the book)
For attacks, his energy disk is a blatant ripoff of Frieza's destructo disk thing. Yes, yes it is. Even the colour is the same.
Rudolf I cannot compare to anybody from DBZ AT ALL. There are MANY chinese samurai and ninja type movies and shows and anime and other things ALL around. He probably came from that, but just to have fun, Rudolf is Sasuke with long hair. Just because of the dumb storyline between him and an older-Itachi like ninja as well. I mean Rudolf can kage bunshin, henge, doppelganger, and use katanas and "ninja stars" (it's actually called that....in English it would be but the Japanese would call it shuriken) and stuff. Basically people are ga-ga over ninjas so make a ninja character, WHEE!
As for attacks, I think I covered them pretty well in the above paragraph, yeah.
And finally, as best is always for last, please don't ask me why, xP, HENRY...I would like to say, Henry is the most unique character ever in existence. Maybe I'm in denial, but he is. Shut up, there is no Legolas, there is no Link, there is no random archer ukey person with awesome happy hair...he has happy unique attacks, a happy unique look, and finally, A HAPPY UNIQUE LOOK.
