I have a hunch, that when Negima ends (which will probably not happen for a long while), Sayo will achieve...nirvana.

What triggers her to finally move on could be just befriending someone after all that time, Asakura.

But that would mean not much of a possibility of an arc dedicated to finding her past.

Granted, she doesn't really want to know, but we do.

Apparently Kenny planned on giving Setsuna a much more darker past, and Sayo a very dark death. Of course his publishers said no, for Negima has to be exactly like Love Hina for some reason. Just ecchi and fun.

Well I don't know why he listened to them. It's Akamatsu's manga, not the friggin' publishers. So originally, Setsuna wanted to get rid of her wings, as an aspect of her past, and some very mature events occur for her desire to rid of her wings so she won't feel left out.

And of course, Sayo was murdered in a string of random murders during the 1940s at Mahora.

I've noticed that with promotional pictures and stuff, that things like Kazumi getting her pactio much earlier than now, as the same with Ku Fei, and other things, indicate that the Festival Arc was not what the man himself intended at first. If the publishers did let him do what he did, I suspect that Negima would be much more darker than it is. I would've wanted that actually. Perhaps Negima!? (the second anime) may have been different.

For they gave a bit more screentime (like an actual individual pactio) to Haruna because of the "recent events of her getting a pactio in the manga" however, if what KA originally wanted to do actually did happen, I'd expect Negima!? to have much more emphasis on Kazumi, then I'd be happy.

So to conclude, I blame the publishers for her lack of footage in both Animes, and even though she figured out the wonderful secret earlier than some, had to be grouped with the "I had no idea" bundle of girls. It is against her personality, to know things, and as a result kind of ruins it a bit.

Secondly, during episode 7 of Negima!? she nearly figured out Negi's secret similar to the way she did in the manga.
How I wish it really did happen.

Plus, the kiss Negi contest would've been much more amusing if it was just Asakura and Chamo plotting it for a purpose rather than Kazumi doing it with a bunch of people including Chisame (which was a bonus, but...) for no reason at all. We'd wonder why she'd do something like that in the first place.

Wasted potential is what I say. Luckily, the manga has a long way to go. All we can do is sit back and read...
