spotto: (Asleep)
Got back from the movie theatre a few hours ago.
My brother and I just finished watching Atonement.

From this, I realized I am a huge sucker for those movies that end in very sad endings, where people die and shit. Where the movie is beautiful and has awesome scenes and everything. No, I am not a fan of those superhero movies because they HAVE to end in a happy ending or something. Nor am I a fan of stuff like Pirates of the Caribbean or Harry Potter or something equally as overhyped. I'm sure they're good in some ways, just not my type of movie. LoTR is probably the only one that has reached huge box office success that I liked though. I barely remember the only Star Wars movie I watched, and I don't think I'm a big fan of Sci Fi at all. Oh, and Titanic sucks. I watched it on TV once and thought it was good, but now that I think of it, the movie is called TITANIC. The ship is NAMED Titanic, therefore the movie must be about TITANIC. So what's this bloody storyline about some random lowlife in love with some random noble lady, with some not believable antagonist thrown into it? Yes, Jack sinking into the water was sad, but it felt a little cheesy now that I think about it. The good thing about it was the actual Titanic part, with the captain sad and all the distress and people dying. The dead frozen people kind of freaked me out, but I don't think I minded it too much.

Of course the movie that scared me shitless was The Last King of Scotland. It was so graphic, and I watched it in school too. We had a substitute teacher, who told us not to look at the next scene because people might be freaked out. I thought it might've just been mindless blood, or something, but when I saw that dead lady...good god I wanted to throw up with the main character too. HOLY SHIT, I should have listened.

There was some gore in Atonement too, but I wasn't really too affected by it. The huge head wound on that dying soldier looked a little weary, but otherwise it was all good. Another good movie I want to mention is Children of Men (which I think is kind of Sci Fi, is it?) but in an entirely different way. EVERYBODY except the pregnant lady died in the end but completed their goal, it was very moving.  I especially remember when the soldiers in the bus were getting suspicious 'cause the pregnant lady was having spasms (about to give birth), the other lady (forgive me for never remembering names, lol) covered for her by pretending she was some Christian maniac, and they took her off the bus. When they were going pass that tunnel, the same lady was covered in a hood, and you could see dead bodies under blankets, meaning they were going to execute her. I don't know, that just stuck in my mind. Like HOLY CRAP. Others I loved was Gladiator (I saw it when I was 9...lol!) and maybe Babel.

Of course, there's also the share of crap movies. I got the movie "Eragon" for Christmas, and then I watched it. WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!? It was so bloody fast paced, and that old man who was like the fantasy version of a ninja sensei reminded me of that dude from House SO MUCH. And it was so incredibly predictable, the old man ninja sensei died, making the ninja trainee he was teaching to ride dragons all mad and shit. It felt like he went and avenged his death when he killed that bad guy, who by the way, was the worse enemy in existence. He was ugly, but big bosses in the end are supposed to look evil and COOL not UGLY. The orcs were ugly in LoTR, since they were like, expendable army men, but that big giant flaming eye was AWESOME. What horrible casting is this, too? And that dream made no sense. "ERAGON COME SAVE ME OMGZOMGZOMGOMZ" and then suddenly he just NEEDS to save this random girl who showed up in his dreams, and when he reaches her, she's like, "WTF ARE YOU DOING HERE YOU STUPID MORON!?" Seriously, where on EARTH did that dream come from? Some random convienient plot device to go save your love interest? THE LOVE INTEREST WHO BASICALLY DID NOTHING THE WHOLE MOVIE EXCEPT THE BEGINNING WITH THE EGG!? What the HELL was the point of HER!? And that random kid with the bow and arrow just popping out of nowhere. He's like, "I like dragons, I follow you hehehehehe. I know way to Varden, me show you, hehehehehe." And then they get there and that big chief dude is like, "ZOMG YOU'RE THE SON OF THAT TRAITORLOLOZOMGOMFOGM!!!" And he's like, "BUT I HATE HIM, LOOK AT MY SEXY SCAR HE GAVE TO ME!" And he gets imprisoned anyway, and then escapes later at the final battle ANYWAY.

Bloody hell, that movie was completely pointless. >>;

Another was Troy. I mean I liked that Hector dood, he had a sexy beard, but it didn't feel like it had any emotion whatsoever. Plus Brad Pitt is a horrible cast for Achilles. He looked like shit with long blonde hair, and the funny thing is Orlando Bloom was the other character without the long blonde hair. Lololol.

Of course the day I watched Eragon was made up because my brother rented THE SIMPSONS MOVIE. We already watched it in the theatre, it was good enough to watch again (and AGAIN, lol). I really liked it, and I don't often laugh at Simpsons episodes (actually I don't even laugh at Family Guy or South Park episodes, why on earth do I watch it?) It was just so humourous, 'specially the BOOB LADY. XDDDD OMG THE DIRECTION OF YOUR JOURNEY IS THAT WAY!! *points with massive boobs* And the way he rode that sled, LMAO. Speaking of South Park, I have the movie on tape. I never laughed at it actually. I guess I liked the storyline and Kenny revealing what he looked like. (So cute, XP) And uhm, I hate Family Guy. Screw Family Guy. It doesn't even have anything creative about it. The Simpsons are yellow and South Park is badly animated, what the hell did Family Guy have? Same FAMILY formula (and the creator did it AGAIN with American Dad. I mean at least the creator of the Simpsons made Futurama that jumped AWAY from that stupid overdone formula)  MAYBE I WOULD LIKE IT MORE IF THE CANADIAN CHANNELS QUIT SHOWING THE SAME EPISODES OF ONE SINGLE SEASON OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I swear I saw the same episode like five times in two months.

Yes, so after watching enough movies. Spotto has found out her favourite genre is not humour or random pointless action, but the sad stuff. The dark stories that have powerful storylines and great character development. CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IS ESSENTIAL. To compare, I would not give a damn about Sayo if she was never involved with Kazumi, 'cause without Kazumi, Sayo is just an empty flat character with moe qualities. Her personality changes in EVERY incarnation too! She's happy in the first anime, mischievous in Negima!?, kind of intrusive in parallel (she doesn't seem depressed but doesn't seem happy either.) and her true personality, which is in the manga, she has low self-esteem, super clumsy, A SCAREDY CAT (that is massively important) and is pretty sad. This is why I'm not often satisfied with Kazusayo fanfics or even Sayo fanfictions because she seems OOC too often in a lot of them. The only one I truly liked was the one story that got me into KS, "The Price of Truth".

Trust me to figure out a way to talk about movies and finally end it with Kazumi and Sayo. Yeesh.

Anyway, from all that information, I suppose my favourite movies at the moment are Atonement, Children of Men, The Simpsons Movie, and Gladiator. YAY I FINALLY HAVE FAVOURITE MOVIES!!! *rushes off to Facebook*
