With the second season of MLP over, most of the ramblings on MLP will probably become rare here because I usually only rant when something stupid happens in an episode or silly reactions or whatever. (No, RD did not kiss Fluttershy in the finale you dolts)
And of course, that paves the way for...Touhou. Yes, I am still in Touhou there was never a doubt that I wasn't. Though there has been no announcement of a new game or anything a BIG BOOK OF TOUHOU called Symposium of Post-Mysticism is coming/came out (I dunno which) which will detail characters from MoF to TD, and from what I hear Koishi's existence isEXTREMELY DEPRESSING I HAVE NO IDEA IS IT SAD OR IS SHE A STEP AWAY FROM NIRVANA NAJfndksnfdsgdfg and I just want to b'aww for her. Seriously, even Satori doesn't remember/care/think of notice her anymore and that is just highly depressing. That makes my smile go upside-down. She's like an imaginary friend now...
I started playing some of the games more. As usual I still take fifteen tries to even get to Shou and then I die to Shou at either her first attack or her CURVED LASERSJE NKFdkfgnbdfzsd, mgd but I just tried Imperishable Night for the first time and I didn't die until Marisa, and then only once. I then proceeded to do dumb things against Reisen but lived to see Eirin and then everything fell apart there. However IN is pretty beatable, I think it's obvious the mistakes I had against Reisen and if I can save all my lives and bombs on Eirin/Kaguya it can be beaten. But until I minimize my dumb mistakes chasing those goddamn UFOsnfdkjsfkjfbfhkjfafscrewyounuebadkfjfsf then I have little confidence finishing UFO at all, as Shou is ridiculous and I've never even had a chance at Byakuren. Who knows, I'll probably keep trying anyway.
Funny thing is Stage Four and Murasa are easier than Ichirin imo (especially both Ichirin's and Kogasa's last spellcards, haven't figured out how to capture those...just die/bomb D: but I die so stupidly trying to get UFOs to get lives in the first place I'm lucky to even have ONE life against Shou...feh) Ten Desires is pretty beatable too. I can beat both TD and IN technically, but in terms of 1CC I'm a little off from that. (TD is pretty easy in itself, but they give you so little lives and again you kind of risk yourself attempting to grab those desires to have bombs/lives in the first place...it's like an easier UFO yet still frustrating D:) ALSO NO I DON'T KNOW WHY I STARTED WITH UFO I'M DUMB THAT IS LIKE THE HARDEST GAME LOL I JUST WANT TO SEE FAVOURITE CHARACTERS
Actually I started with EoSD because I wanted to go in order... >_> <_< >_> but I usually don't open that game anymore. If ever feel like Touhou I fire up UFO, listen to some awesome Tiny, Tiny, Clever Commander, hope I can somehow live through Kogasa's last spellcard, and if I'm lucky get by Ichirin to destroy Murasa, hold off Nazrin's return and then die pathetically to Shou. That's usually the gist of it, ha. I've played a bit of MoF and SA too but not all that much. (Oh and PCB, but I lost to Alice durr)
Otherwise I just play some Touhoumon, and the new hack/mod/whateverthehellit'scalled I'm playing is actually forcing me to use tactics and not always try to power through everything like I do. The whole Pokemon Online thing with my clan is also giving me a bit of incentive to not be a noob at Pokemon, lol. Unfortunately it's a bit late for SoulSilver, where I'm far too used to the 800% speed of emulators and its slowness just demotivates me. I'm like "OH MY GOD THIS GRINDING BALFDKJFNfdggnjs". The thing is I do a Nuzlocke in the Touhoumon mod, so every time a Touhou dies I need to like grind some other one forever again so I HAVE to use these tactics else they'd ALL die and I'd have a bunch of level 10 boxed Touhous I'd have to grind forever if I want to go anywhere. I only have one flying Touhou too so if she dies that'd be a little hard trying to find a surfing Touhou to get back to an earlier area to train against 'mons that don't cause instant death. IT IS ANNOYING, yet fun.
As for that big book apparently it is coming out today and all info I found out before was just from leaked pages or something. There were these threat levels many fans are discussing and interpreting and funnily enough both Murasa/Nue are pretty high on the danger and the unlikability scale. The thing is in the POV of humans probably, but I heard the writer (character of Akyuu, it is her entire purpose!) called Nue a horrible devil or something, hahaha. Shou on the other hand is actually quite low on the fear/hate scale, but being the avatar of Bishamonten I think she pretty much has to. Either way I am pretty interested in the UFO, TD, and SA entries in that book. (MoF too but I feel we know TONS about those characters by now...at least I think we do. It certainly feels that way) I've never been too eager to learn information about canon actually (else I'd read more official manga) but eh, if it's a whole book profiling characters (that may not even be completely accurate! That's the thing about Touhou, all information you get is from a third-party, like some person who is writing a biography just by interviewing like one person who encountered them-kind of deal. So even though we're getting a whopping 180-paged thing about these characters since it is canonically written by certain characters in Gensokyo itself, it is not completely true. Thus there will always be an air of unknown about these characters encouraging even more interpretations and discussion than ever before! We never even know if the so-called "canon" is even canon! It's pretty incredible how this works)
I read up some new information on Murasa and it's...surprisingly awesome, actually. Usually you have headcanon and you don't like it when it's tampered (like when you read awesome fic and a major canon event just makes it all NULL) but I never feel that way for Touhou for some reasonexcept that skirt so new information pertaining to my favourite characters is good! Though I'm a lot more critical on Nue than Murasa anyway because she really has like, zero information and I almost want to agree with those people who call the Captain a forgettable character BUT SHE IS NOT. SHE REALLY ISN'T. I'M NOT LISTENING LALALALALALA. And this new canon information shall be my new tools and weapons in reinforcing my no-longer dying out BELIEF. HA! (Besides that, I find Touhou an incredibly intimidating fandom, where though I do have headcanon I am very insecure with such headcanon. Unlike any other fandom interpretations of characters can be wildly different from fan-to-fan, however with Touhou it is filled with such unmeasurable talent that I feel I am not worthy to have my headcanon be...well, a headcanon. I feel inadequate in this massive collection of excellent and awesome people, whose own ideas and works dwarf mine considerably, so I feel that voicing out my opinions of so-and-so is somewhat of a pointless pursuit, NONETHELESS!
According to the new BOOK OF TOUHOU, Murasa is quite possibly the most colourful character from the Myouren Temple (unless Nazrin's profile has some startling information or Ichirin/Nue/that tanuki do somehow) BUT I FEEL EVEN IF THEY DID, they cannot top Murasa's MASTERY of the WAJUTSU which is the art of CONVERSATIONAL SKILLS. I already knew Murasa was sly and awesome and not an awkward loserlike me already, but for it to be canonized is awesome! Not only that, she actually hasn't stopped her murdering spree. Her ability isn't merely to sink ships, but to drown people. She can drown you even if there is only water in the kitchen sink! But because she is associated with Byakuren and Buddhism and all that (I am again ashamed, that as a fan of UFO I have little to no knowledge of Buddhism itself. It's not like I go read books on Darwinian Psychology just because I love Koishi!) she can't just go and drown everyone. (Also she has to drown people to actually exist) so instead she "carefully" picks her victims... which someone said is her being a vigilante. SO MURASA IS DEXTER OHMGHGHGMG. (and hopefully doesn't turn into a Kira >_>) Although I haven't read anywhere that being a vigilante is confirmed, just implied. It's possible she goes and drowns like...people no one would notice if they disappeared. (Which is scary) AND THUS HER VERY HIGH DANGER RATING THINGAMAJIG. Again of course, this is from third party sources and possible rumours, so maybe it is exaggerated from the author's point of view but it's too amazingly interesting to not believe! RIGHT!?
And by drown I mean, they blame her for every drowning incident accident or not. It's like how a yamabiko (Kyouko) is said to be the echo when you yell into a mountain. We all know how echoes work this side of the border, but if someone is swimming on the beach and the current blows them out to sea, thus throwing the lifeguard into duty, rather than saying "oh you swam to far and the current tries to drown you" people in Gensokyo will say "MURASA ATTEMPTED TO MURDER YOU!"
Incidentally, I don't know but those threat level things make Gensokyo seem a lot darker than I originally thought. I thought all the fanworks were just exaggerating that all the youkai want to kill and eat you, while in canon everyone is more concerned with tea parties, but then this book comes out and there are danger levels of all these characters we know and love! Even the shy and cute SA-partner, Nitori has a VERY HIGH threat level...but maybe this is good. Because this stuff is written by someone who is writing for humans and if you do not have the necessary fear of youkai, well then you might die. They may not be as scary or dangerous as it is written, but these precautions are there for the sake of the survival of humans and therein lies the conflict of the two species and my utter fascination. Also the fact that Murasa spends hours filling a boat with a ladle while making small talk with her victims-to-be is hilarious. I know, drowning is a horrible way to go and murder is not cool or funny at all, but damn does it make Murasa more of the terrifying, scary ghostly youkai I see her as. And badass, except her silly little canon picture makes her look tiny and adorable for some reason. What the hell.
(No, that is not a consistent thing, the artwork for Koishi isn't quite so tiny and adorable, almost like there was more than one artist doing those things and they each have their own distinct style. I have absolutely no idea.)
ALSO NUE HAS POINTY EARS IT IS CANON HAHAHAHA
As more information comes out I'll comment more, that is all from the inadequate unworthy Spotto.
