So I just realized that due to my accent, whenever I say "dude" I actually say "dood".

Yeah it took that long to realize.

Nonetheless, you're all probably wondering what I've been doing lately!
1. Watch ALL OF THE MAGIC SCHOOL BUS! Zomfg!
2. Watch all the Narnia Movies! Zomfg!
3. Play Touhoumon!

And now I shall discuss all three. (such free time comes from winter break, obviously P: )

First, Magic School Bus. I was one day extremely bored, like...extremely. So I decided to try that whole "nostalgic" thing again, this time with a very old cartoon I remember watching as a young lass long long ago. The Magic School Bus.

Then after fifty-one episodes (it was fifty one right? Or fifty two...or forty five...I DON'T REMEMBER) I realized how utterly horrible the music was in the show. Not so much the music itself that's horrible, just that they kept playing the theme song's tune OVER AND OVER AGAIN as if their soundtrack is...extremely limited. Now I understand the cartoon is funded by a bunch of sponsors (it WAS on PBS after all) so the budget wasn't there for a lot of music (I heard lots of background music that were public domain) but still the theme song is incredibly earworm-y, and I can actually skip the OP, but then PLAYING IT DURING THE EPISODE ARGH.

Also after that many episodes I was dying of utter sappiness. This show is SO SAPPY AND GAH. You know how cartoons nowadays always subvert those overused kid-show tropes? Well since this show is old EVERYTHING is played straight and that just felt incredibly annoying. For example if someone is in a contest, THEY WILL GET FIRST NO MATTER WHAT after learning today's Science lesson, of course...and probably because of it. It's rather annoying. The Christmas Special was the biggest offender. They tried to make it some sort of musical except all the songs were utter fail and they kind of broke out into song rather randomly...

Despite all these problems, the characters do seem a bit more than one-dimensional. (I say a bit. That one character Tim? He is the flattest character in the history of characters, ever. He could not exist and NOTHING WOULD BE AFFECTED. You know how they say if you go back in time and even alter ONE LITTLE THING, the future would change? Well if you went back in time and kept him from being born, NOTHING WOULD CHANGE. That's how utterly pointless his character was.)

But there were others things...for example, Rei's dub voice! You get to hear his voice crack throughout the series, it's quite odd actually. First he sounds like a young boy, then he gets an ounce of Rei a few episodes later, then more Rei creeps in until he's completely Rei, and hearing Rei making lame puns and STATING THE COMPLETE OBVIOUS (the educational part of the show makes me think I'm a retarded person learning or something. For example "RED LIGHT BOUNCES OFF THE RED CHERRY, BUT DISAPPEARS WHEN IT HITS A GREEN APPLE! WHY IS THAT!?" What do you MEAN why is that, THAT IS COMPLETELY OBVIOUS! It feels like the characters are in a special-needs class!) is just so odd.

But his BROTHER. Carlos' brother is the worst character ever. I mean, I gave the show credit because at least the characters had a tiny bit of depth (besides Tim, but Tim is just boring) but his brother "Mikey" is stupid. He also has no personality except to be politically correct by being a crippled kid so crippled children have someone to look up to, but he has absolutely nothing going for him except being awesome at everything and super sugary happy and GAH.

I have no idea why I am ranting about an educational kids show funded by PBS. OF COURSE IT'S RIDICULOUSLY SAPPY AND ONE-DIMENSIONAL. But Arthur is funded by PBS! (I think...or at least it just randomly is on its channel for no reason) and Arthur is WITTY, and funny at least! Why did I watch all the episodes if I find SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH IT, you ask?

Nostalgia I guess, and again some episodes DO have a tiny bit of depth, even if ten minutes of an episode is catchphrases. The thing goes through a standard formula over and over and over again. It goes like this:
1. PROBLEM!
2. FIELD TRIP! (5 Ms. Frizzle catchphrases here, and an Arnold one too)
3. A SITUATION WHERE THE CLASS IS ABOUT TO BE KILLED! (800 more catchphrases)
4. Commercial break!
5. Either the bus saves the class, or the situation wasn't that dangerous to begin with. Or the kids were panicking for a retarded reason. (They seem to jump to conclusions about the oddest things)
6. They learn something that was completely obvious.
7. THEY GO HOME AND LAUGH AT SOMETHING DUMB.
8. The End! (optional producer answering caller's questions to address various plotholes)

But at least it was fun and educational!!!!

The Narnian movies. My brother took me to see Voyage of the Dawn Treader the other day, and it was pretty good. It felt somewhat pointless but I think it was the same in the book, so yeah. I did try to read the books when I was much younger, but I didn't like reading and never finished any of them. Nonetheless, I was very sad in the end when Reepicheep left to go to Heaven, pretty much (AWESOME MOUSE D: ) and both Edmund and Lucy will never return. I do like Eustace, really...but it feels like it may not be the same without the other two. (I was never that fond of Peter and Susan in the first two movies lol)

This caused me to go out and find the other two movies, just to refresh my memory. Now that I think about it the movies really are quite Disney-like...I mean NO ONE EVER DIES...unless you're a bad guy. And if a good guy does "die" it's usually something peaceful, like they know their life is ending because they're old and go willingly, but never violently or anything like that. The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe had the witch basically turning people into ice-stone things with her spear thing, and Aslan's breath is insta-heal. So everyone gets better...then Santa gives Lucy a magical potion where one drop can cure ANY INJURY. OMFG. Also the guys did all the fighting and the women did all the womanly girly stuff! Well, I shouldn't be complaining I mean after all the books came out in the fifties...it's just because the books themselves came out a long time ago that some stuff I'm so used to not happening (since if said thing happened it would've occurred too much in media) and yet it does. I actually think I like this third movie the best...while the first did feel more epic with huge war and tons of action sequences, (plus I miss how Narnia was like back then, it's so different after thousands of years) the third didn't look like it relied on Aslan THAT much (granted, it kind of did STILL, but you know...at least it was Edmund who stabbed the giant sea serpent and not Aslan killing it instantly...then again Edmund's sword was powered by the prophecy that Aslan granted...GAH.)

Prince Caspian...it was okay. I wasn't very fond of the ending, where Lucy just runs out and gets Aslan...especially since the supposed "foreshadowing" made her look more crazy than truthful, since whenever she was like "OMFG IT'S ASLAN" they don't actually show us, the viewer he's there...even if it's for a split second, so our POV is actually with the other kids, not Lucy....and then she has a dream with him in it, but because it was a dream and not real.

I get Aslan is supposed to represent God and such, so just because you never see it doesn't mean it wasn't there...but I'm not Christian, so it doesn't work for me P:

I think that's a the biggest problem.  I don't see Narnia as a very deep kind of movie, one where you're all UTTERLY AMAZED at the conclusion, you watch, feel sad and in despair when things are low, and then happy when the good ending comes. The fact that no one particularly dies (Aslan sacrificing himself and resurrecting ala Jesus style does not work) makes it feel less suspenseful, especially since the villains have never been particularly compelling. (The best was the White Witch, but she got COMPLETELY fooled by Aslan that the stone table he is sacrificed on has some hidden meaning where you can't actually die because you were an innocent victim, so yeah) The Prince Caspian villain just felt like another generic guy "I WANT THE THRONE! I'll kill my brother for it, then my nephew! Then I'll be a tyrant!" at least the White Witch looked manipulating, but the Miraz guy was a joke (and while him being killed by his second hand man so HE could lead instead was a nice twist...WHY DID ALL THE VILLAINS LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME!? Like the Bum from Bum Reviews said, they were all fighting ITALIANS!! And they were ALL MEN, the only female I saw was the wife...surely there could've been some slightly more important female figure in the enemy side!? I guess I missed the White Witch too much.

I actually liked the action in Dawn Treader the most of the three, which is ironic because in the book Dawn Treader has the least amount of action (they added a bit in the movie) but even though the "bad guy" had absolutely no motive besides being a monster who just aggressively attacks, the fact that Eustace was a dragon blowing fire, and then the ship being rocked back and forth, it was pretty awesome.

But I guess it felt too straightforward for me. Whenever I go to movies, I usually go to ones people recommend...these felt so straightforward. There wasn't too much suspense because NO ONE DIES, so really, it didn't feel like they were in too grave of danger at all. I guess it's the lack of twists. Even in the first movie, Edmund was rescued incredibly easily...what kind of goddamn villain is the White Witch for overlooking so many things, it's as if none of the villains were EVER in the upper hand in ANY of the movies. Dawn Treader felt so dangerous I almost thought someone might actually die! Plus you never got their motives. White Witch? Was she doing it for the lulz? King Miraz? He's a moron and has the motive of half the villains that exist. The monster despite being the most one-dimensional at least felt like it ACCOMPLISHED MORE, in less screentime too!

But I'm a person with pretty high expectations. When I went into the movie I told myself to enjoy it for what it was, not to pick it to pieces...only to do so in my blog later. P: But of course Lucy inherits Susan's bow and arrows. But of course Edmund inherits Peter's sword (which all look exactly the same anyway...some creative swords please?) But of course Aslan always saves the day. But of course!

But Reepicheep is awesome. I'll give the movies that (and really, a lot of the talking animals!)

Well, two sappy things later...what's left?

TOUHOUMON!

It is a ROM hack of Pokemon Fire Red with Touhou characters replacing the Pokemon. I'm in Celadon city at the moment, with my current party of...Sakuya (starter, ice/steel type), Lunachild (electric, I have never heard of her until his game) Momiji (normal, another I haven't heard of until now), Remilia (Dark/Flying), Patchouli (Psychic), and yes...China--I mean Meiling (Fighting/eventually Dragon :P) they're subject to change obviously. (The pokemon I want the most is Yuyuko actually because she is a pure counter to those stupid Komachis)

I had been wanting to play Fire Red/Leaf Green for a while, but I haven't yet because I dunno, same old same old as Red and Blue, but then I found Touhoumon and decided to play it like that. Quite fun (and annoying P: )

Remilia is definitely my new Gengar...she kind of kills everything. High attack and high speed but crap defence. Yep :D

I even started a Let's Play of it on my Livestream...they're not that entertaining, but I think the Patch capture, Cerulean gym, and Vermillion gym parts were more entertaining than the rest. (probably because the first few I did while sleep deprived, lol)

Here's the tenth part! So yeah.
THAT IS ALL FOR TODAY YAH.
