As a biased Pinkie fan...

This gigantic pony post has nothing to do with Lyra.
It is my duty to share with you my pony findings of the day (or week or whatever) !!
First off, from the newest episode...

My favourite pony expression EVER. >:| !!! I make this face plenty of times :D (also the roundness of RD's head is rather mesmerizing for some peculiar reason. It's like she's made out of some sort of soft blue candy and her head is being squished or rather inflating her head in anger, which is hilarious :D)

Yeap, as a Pinkie fan besides Pinkie kind of being toned down this season, this. She's had the least screentime of the Mane Six, and from the summaries of future episodes she isn't going to be the spotlight anytime soon. Man I chose a bad time to become a Pinkie fan...
I have a fanfic recommendation! No one here will actually read it, since no one reads this and the fanfic itself is actually rather long, but I thought to mention it. It's the first multi-part ongoing fic I've read, as I've mostly hit a lot of duds lately. I was interested in this one specifically due to being a crossover with Pokemon, and while it's of the third generation which I don't care for due to my Touhoumon play I still get to be familiar with it. (Yay Touhou! :D) It's actually a lot more in-depth and epic than "Pokemon crossover" can describe it.
It is called Hoennshy, click this amazing and relevant picture to take a look if you have the time.

There might be some grimdark later on, but it's not too serious.
Next up, TRIVIA.
When I was in the Hetalia fandom I often frequented a site called Tegaki. Took me a while to remember its name today, but I suddenly realized its URL is a reference to TOUHOU! unowen.net/tegaki or something. They redirected it to tewi.us now, which is ALSO Touhou! I took a look at the tags and Hetalia is still the biggest thing there. I tried to see if random people were drawing ponies but from my quick search nothing came up, ah well. There is a Touhou Project tag, which I imagine there should be due to the URL and South Park! Pretty cool. It's filled to the brim with the usual animesque fandoms. I'll be damned if that's not interesting. (Well it is to meeee)
I've decided to list my favourite to not quite as favourite but still pretty awesome episode but due to being ranked must unfortunately be on the bottom of this list not that I'm trying to imply that it is an episode that is not enjoyable because it is! Or for short, my top 8 episodes of the season so far...
1. Luna Eclipsed
2. May the Best Pet Win
3. The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well
4. The Return of Harmony Pt. 2
5. The Return of Harmony Pt. 1
6. Sisterhooves Social
7. Lesson Zero
8. Cutie Pox
It is probably rather biased, due to my first livestream viewing of Pony being Luna Eclipsed, but I seriously busted a gut at that Fluttershy scene. I was so crazily entertained that the episode shot up in my listings very fast. Good Fluttershy scenes are usually golden in MLP, so yeah. Luna was characterized rather fittingly as well, while I was expecting a shitstorm to occur over her reappearance in canon to rip apart the fanon side of her. Although I didn't have an opinion of Luna before the episode so anything that did happen to her would've either generated a positive or neutral reaction from me, unless they made her super annoying or something. Pinkie was pretty good as well, though I found they made her a little too stereotypical crazy and not Pinkie crazy. None the less one of my very favourites. If only AJ...wait, there'd be too much of a time-restraint to do more with her and I love this enough. :D (OR MORE PINKIE BUT BIAS AND SHE'S LIKE EVERYWHERE ANYWAY! P: Perhaps this is why it's my favourite, this season so far she's had the most screentime in this episode...albeit in a ridiculous chicken costume)
May the Best Pet Win generated a lot of negative responses, and The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well even more so. I am with the minority that believe Rainbow Dash was redeemed with these two episodes. I just could not understand the craze people had for Rainbow Dash because she did have flaws, pretty glaring flaws at that from the first season. It felt like a lot of fans forgot about this, and these episodes had to make it very obvious so RD wasn't quite as awesome. Yes the episodes could've done this a bit better, but I was fairly entertained by them, especially the duet from the Pet episode. Again, good Fluttershy scenes shoot episodes up my list. If ONLY AJ was Mare-Do-Well alone it would've shot up to first! AJ! Superhero! Development! RARGH! (Alternatively Pinkie, but that's just the bias)
The two-parter start of the season was quite good, so I have not much to say about them. They were heavily rushed though. I thought if it was a three-parter it'd have better pacing, but otherwise rather entertaining episodes. Pinkie was still very Pinkie in these.

I'm sorry! My opinions will end soon!
The only reason Sisterhooves Social is so low is due to the lack of the rest of the cast, but I don't mind Rarity and AJ. Sweetie Belle also seriously contended with Scootaloo as BEST PONY in this episode too. It was rather straightforward however, but the twist at the end was very refreshing. It still amazes me that Rarity did all those things in the race, shows she might be more athletic than you'd think. IF AJ ACTUALLY SANG IN THIS EPISODE (there was trollish music as she spoke) it'd have shot up to first. AJ! Songs! Development! RARGH! (Alternatively Pinkie, so she can appear and actually get a song, but that's just the bias)
A LOT of people love Lesson Zero, to the point of considering it a good episode to convert people into watching MLP. I on the other hand do not agree with that idea. The episode wasn't bad, but it was filled to the brim of so many scenes that felt so...unnecessary, I suppose. Yes they aided the plot and everything, but it felt like a really really flashy type thing with little plot, kind of like movies that just have explosions and car chases but a lack of good storytelling. I found Twilight's descent into insanity too over-the-top. It was scene after scene of creepy and messed up faces. I mean one or two are fine, but she just went off the rocker so extremely for such a mundane thing...makes you think Twilight might have some issues beyond what a children's show can allow. Individually each scene is amazing though, the bear wrestling, the rain-nuke, Rarity's one dimensional drama, but again it was more like tons of action and not so much deepness. I do however love the Pinkie nuzzling Twilight scene I embed into this blog before, so yeah! :D Also the reason I do not agree with using this episode as an intro for newbies is because people might expect the zaniness of this episode to be similar in EVERY episode. If they watched something like Sisterhooves Social next they might be a tad disappointed... If only AJ actually had a scene for herself rather than being in a ditch! AJ! Flashy! Development! RARGH! (Alternatively Pinkie because apparently she has no problems, but again, bias)
And finally Cutie Pox! Again not a terrible episode, I too enjoyed it...but whenever I watch MLP episodes I always watch and then realize it's over already. It always goes by so bloody fast since I enjoy every minute of it. Here, the hoola hoop scene felt rather stretched out, to the point where I wondered when it was going to end. That is NEVER supposed to happen! D: If there is a large chunk of the episode that is longer than it needs be it kind of brings down the quality. That's really my only complaint though. I loved seeing Applejack's room and truly felt sorry for Applebloom when she said "Help Me". The way that line was delivered was perfect. Also: Hazmat Suits. Don't you love townsfolk who panic at the slightest hint of trouble!? I do! :D
Need more Earth pony. @_@ (Earth ponies are my favourite! I like them more than pegasi, unicorns, and alicorns. :D)

Oh look I did this thing. I actually thought I'd get Applejack or something but then the chart I got afterwards basically told me I was the laziest, weakest and most unreliable pony ever, but at least I'm nice! (Applejack why you so perfeeeect...or to quote Rarity "Why do you have to look so good and make me look so bad") You know I actually recall going up a mountain with some people and dragging them back due to being quite the failure. Unfortunately the top lacked a dragon for me to suicidally yell at in pointless bravery.

ABRIDGED SERIES
There are like a million pony abridges. Usually a series gets one notable one and the rest fail, occasionally two notable ones. MLP has....probably four, arguably. One is Camaraderie is Supernatural, MLP: The Mentally Advanced Series, simply "The MLP Abridged" series or whatever, and finally Friendship is Witchcraft. My favourites of the bunch are Mentally Advanced and Friendship is Witchcraft, for rather different reasons. I can see people liking one and not the other, but I enjoy both. Camaraderie lacks in episodes and thus a proper concrete characterization of the characters (it seems to be parodying abridged series themselves...) and the generically named one is...well, kind of generic. I can see why the MA creator left its team if that's the series he left.
The one with the most episodes so far is Mentally Advanced, which goes very over the top with some of its personalities. Despite being all voiced by a male (the only one of the four, I believe) the creator is definitely a capable voice actor, and the recent episodes have much better range for each character than the beginning where everyone except Pinkie sounded the same. I suspect Pinkie is his favourite or something, but my favourite from this series is definitely Fluttershy followed by Twilight. The tropes page for this lists Fluttershy as flat, but she's so hilariously pathetic. Most people are too afraid to properly poke fun of Fluttershy, so seeing her be the buttmonkey as opposed to some other character is awesome. I have stated before Flutter slapstick is my favourite slapstick, thus my massive love for Luna Eclipsed. (Also look at my icon!) And even though I kind of ripped her apart in my little personality quiz she is my second favourite, soooo... Twilight is also very entertaining and well-acted with her horror stories of her childhood and the delivery of her lines. (RUBBER DUCKY! You're the one! You make bathtime LOADS OF FUN!)
The best part of this series is actually a spinoff however, called "Rainbow Dash Presents". It forces me to read fanfic I wouldn't normally read so I can laugh at it later. The best one is of Cupcakes, which just decimates that fic and makes it so unexpectedly funny. Here's an embed!
Friendship is Witchcraft is far more subtle than MA, and I have said before I love subtle humour. I think the MA voice actor is a bit better at differentiating voices than the girl here, but either way it's still good. I too love the supposed "flat" character of FiW, Rainbow Dash. Her Pokemon speak is highly amusing. And as opposed to MA, I suspect the favourite here is Fluttershy, who is is basically Pony Frollo from Hunchback of Notre Dame, so deliciously evil yet everyone is oblivious, but I have to say I love Pinkie the most in this one. Yes, she is a lot more "normal" than her canon self or any of her selves from the abridged, but that's what makes it so refreshing. She's already crazy, merely extending her craziness isn't creative enough for my very picky mind. (Though MA does do it rather fittingly) But she's not just a boring normal earth pony, she is possibly a gypsy (again a reference to Hunchback, I love that movie) who is an orphan and desperately wants her parents back because no one loves her.
But what makes it at the top are its original songs. MA doesn't have songs, but makes it up with the spinoffs. FiW's speciality is the music, in particular...PINKIE'S BREW. Watch as this gets stuck in your head FOREVER. I also enjoy singing it, since it's real easy for a fail alto to sing. The lyrics are amazing too. (In comparison to those At the Gala lyrics... I mean good song and all, but dear god the lyrics!)
And that's why these two Abridged Series stand out, not only do they abridge, but they do much more and it makes them a lot more three-dimensional. Of course if people enjoy the meta humour or the standard humour of the other two, all the power to you. I just find these ones the best.
TOYS!!
I have some! They cost money! I am now broke! Why did I buy them!?
Well, as they sat on my desk I realized what fun I could actually have with them, behold the proper way of playing with ponies:

Twilight Sparkle vertigo and Applejack blood rushes to her head. Yes.
Yes my fingers are tiny, I already know. But that means kids, the actual demographic of this show, can actually do these things! Hurray! Have a Pinkie picture with haaaaaaaaamsters. (They are doing quite well, still do not bite. Nazzo's coat is a luxurious sandy brown. I am amazed how neat they constantly keep themselves...well mostly Nazzo. Capp doesn't quite care as much)

Due to the shavings Applejack proooobably should've switched with Pinkie, but meh.

Confound these ponies! They drive me to colour!
Yeap, I've been doing more SAI stuff lately. The artwork makes me want to draw and also colour, since everything is stupid colourful, but then I try and I hate it and scrap it and it dies. I did this for my friend's birthday and the colouring is just terrible, also the pony anatomy but mostly the terrible colouring. I'm doing Rainbow Dash because I think she's like the easiest to draw, her mane is pretty simple...someone like Fluttershy would be a little more complicated and DEAR GOD if I ever attempt Pinkie. FFFFFFFFFFFF. I need to stop having hard-to-draw favourite characters.
Speaking of which, I'd like to pimp out my favourite pony once again to yell at the neigh-sayers in the most friendly of ways. Yeah she has a lot of favourites, and I don't mind if people like other ponies more, but I have this strange idea in my mind that she cannot be hated. It is impossible! So here is another reason why I like her so much beyond the more common ones. The obvious is I used to hate the colour pink, except now I have two pink hoodies I often wear and a light pink winter coat...
But pink, damn that colour. I also hate curly hair, like seriously. It's hard to draw and looks really stupid on people IMO. But somehow Pinkie sports it and it looks fine, even though 99% of people would prefer every other ponies' manes. Her cutie mark is a series of BALLOONS. I have a mild phobia of balloons. It is impossible to watch Pinkie with a headache, she will only make it throb more, and various other reasons with decent logic that dictates I should dislike her.
But I don't. Her comic relief is amusing, but that's not the biggest reason she's a favourite. Comic relief usually throws a pony into the middle of a favourite pile. It's also not because none of them are good enough to be a favourite, Fluttershy is an awesome character who could've easily been my favourite...so why?

"Oooh! Ooooh! Is it cake!?"
CHARACTER. I cannot stress this enough. C-H-A-R-A-C-T-E-R. Episode 5 and 25 are some of my favourite episodes. Pinkie can be jealous!? She is hurt quite easily when it comes to neglect, and her idea of "getting back at someone" is a party. Already that debunks every psychotic Pinkie thing out there. (Which gets it COMPLETELY wrong anyway, Cupcakes Pinkie was normal Pinkie, not Pinkamena. Every single fanart of that fanfic is just...wrong. o_O) Yeah I get other ponies might have more development, or at least more obvious development but I see Pinkie as having the most interesting and potential. And season one Pinkie was actually very unpredictable and in a way, brilliant. Season Two Pinkie is treading into predictable territory but maybe I'm just looking for things to complain about.
And now, off to the other sensitive topic.
SHIPPING
I've read a grand total of...two shipping fics. Well, two that I remember, and one comic kind of. I was okay with a fairly short conservative one, but the rest I just disliked. It had too much of that "I am in emotional turmoil but [Insert Pony Here] saved me from my turmoil! She's such a nice friend, oh and we also hooked up because it turns out we had feelings for each other." The shipping part just felt so unnecessary...so tacked on, I suppose. I was reading a kind of sad fic, which suddenly out of nowhere had Appledash, and I was like "uhh...okay" it broke the flow and made it not quite as sad as it could've. I was reading a different sad fic where I thought the first chapter was about Applejack due to its title but it turned out to be Twilight who just married into the family and became the new Apple matriarch which kind of rendered Applejack pointless. She's meant to have her own chapter later but it's not been written yet, so that's all I can think of right now. (So this was a TwilightxBig Mac shipping, just to say it's not just the girl/girl stuff) But I still loved it because it had many other chapters that follow other characters. I read a third sadfic (SAD FANFICTION! I NEED MORE! ONLY TWO OUT OF THE FIFTEEN I'VE READ ACTUALLY MADE ME TEAR UP!) which was very sad but the PinkieDash threw me off....blaaaaahhhhh.
Man, if only there was sad Flutterpie OH WAIT THERE IS. But it's so melodramatic if feels out-of-character for them all. (Okay the ending was cute) BLAAAHHHHH.
It's either too melodramatic or it breaks the flow of an otherwise good story. I'm not against shipping at all. I ship in like every fandom, but I usually don't read fanfic that much in old fandoms. (KazuSayo started DUE to an awesome fanfiction though!) But I simply am not finding a good quality shipfic, which is limited further by having different tastes in actual pairings.
In fact this ask blog I follow, is technically Flutterpie. (Or PinkieShy, idk) But nothing really happens there. I really love it, but nothing happens. It's just cute. It's similar to a blob pony blog, in its constant state of cuteness. However the blob pony one actually has stuff happen. Not too often, but stuff like THE FLOOR IS NOW LAVA is amazing. Ask Dr. Adorable has both the concept of cute AND stuff happening at the same time, but it doesn't update very frequently. In fact rather than complaining I shall type up my VERY FIRST PONY FIC to solve this dilemma...starting NOW!

Once upon a time in Ponyville, there lived a very pink pony. She was very pink, and no one knew why. Her family did not have a trace of pink in them at all, not even a strand of hair or a contrastingly-coloured cutie mark. They were dull colours befitting of their lifestyle on a boring old rock farm. Perhaps the colour spectrum knew of Pinkie's destiny and intensified the melanin within her coat so those who meet her could understand her objectives right away. After all, who has ever heard of a dull-grey happy-mongering pony? Surely not I, the narrator!
So the appropriately-coloured pony lived in Ponyville, a very quiet town often unnoticed by the pony masses of Equestria. Though famed for its apples, Appleloosa was more impressive. Though famed for its weather pegasi, Cloudsdale was the place to see them. Though famed for its animals, the garden of the gala was far more varied, but this one small normally forgettable town had one thing no other place in Equestria had, the Elements of Harmony.
And the Pink pony was the bearer of one of these elements, hard to imagine I know. Her pinkness certainly explains her element, that of laughter. Why if a pony from the farmlands who only knew of the normal dull colours of brown, grey, and black saw this mare, they'd laugh their hooves off at the sight of a bright pink pony...that is, if they knew how to laugh. Yes, it was this pony's destiny, and purpose in life to make sure every pony at every edge of Equestria was a happy as they can be, starting in the humble town of Ponyville.
But sadly, there existed a pony within Ponyville who was not happy. Somepony who had been hit by the virus of sadness, and therefore exhibiting the tragic symptoms of tears and crushed hearts. You see, she was merely minding her own business one day, flying in the sky like any normal pegasi would do, when she accidentally made a left when she should have made a right. She ended up swerving abruptly to avoid the pole in front of her, causing one of her little animals to fall to the ground. She was unfortunately not quite as amazing as the pony representing the very essence of awesomeness itself, Rainbow Dash, and so her reaction could not possibly have allowed her to save the poor fellow, which was merely a small squirrel only coming to life a month ago. If only it was a flying squirrel.
The guilt that enveloped the poor pegasi was almost too much, as the squirrels around the fallen one stood side-by-side, solemn. If they had hats, they'd have taken them off in respect, but they did not. It was not only a heartbreaking sight, but a horrific one, with the young squirrel's body in a state far too graphic to describe in this prose. Pinkie Pie, the pony destined to spread happiness, and also appropriately named oddly enough, noticed such a scene that frankly should never happen if she had her way with fate. She approached slowly, breaking off from her normal routine of bouncing about. For the first time in her life, she did not know what to say, and was reluctant to even approach her dear friend, but she knew in her heart that leaving her there would be cruel beyond imaginable.
Fluttershy, the name of the unfortunate pegasi, stood still, tears still flowing from her large cyan eyes. She did not notice her friend just over by the corner, still wondering how this could've even happened. She was one of the most careful of fliers having been terrified of heights, only getting over it recently. She also flew at a soothing pace every time, with her eyes pointed in front of her at all times. To have dropped one of the most vulnerable creatures, and for it to have such an unfair fate, she knew animals did not live long, and was quite frankly, used to their passing, but they mostly went in their sleep after a long delightful life filled with prosper and adventure. This, this was too much, too premature, too...wrong. Why did she ever think a good flight would be nice for a squirrel anyway? They're land animals, mostly in trees. The sky was just too unnatural for them. So many reasons and what-ifs flowed through Fluttershy's mind, only making her feel worse and worse at how preventable this death was.
It was only after the sixth nudge and eighth poke did Fluttershy notice the bright pink pony standing next to her, who had revealed herself from the corner long ago, yet still went unnoticed. Fluttershy blinked for a moment, the tears blurring her vision from the crisp image of her friend, but she knew instantly who it was. There was only one coloured in such a vibrant colour, that the fact that Pinkie was there in itself made her feel a little better. Fluttershy could only shake her head, crouching back down, her hooves digging deep into the gravel, threatening to cut her normally tough skin. She almost expected it when two pink arms wound around her slightly shaking body. The warmth was fighting off the gripping chill sewn around her spine, slowly causing her tensed muscles to relax. When Fluttershy finally brought her head up just to look at her friend, she only saw a smile. Not an oversized grin that was usually there on Pinkie, but a serene, comforting smile, almost like everything would be okay.
But it wasn't. A squirrel was dead, and it was all her fault. What would she tell its family? She remembered the little squirrel, so eager to experience the wind breezing by its ears. Fluttershy thought it was still too young to do something as risky as flying, but she rarely had accidents unlike Rainbow Dash, and the young squirrel practically begged to have a ride. Angel was the one who advised her not to go, if only she had listened. She then recalled the numerous times she took Angel in the air, and the dreaded thought of dropping him was about to stab her clean through the chest, and right out the back, throbbing so badly like it was in a constant butchering motion. She knew grieving so long and publicly like so would not do good to the poor creature still splayed out on the ground, but her emotions bolted her down at where she was, unable to even take a peek at the tearing sight.
Pinkie had been watching the pale-coloured pegasus the entire time, keeping her eyes away from the gruesome mess next to them. Her first reaction to such an extreme form of sadness was a hug, and although Fluttershy looked thankful for it, her rather simple and one-tracked plan wasn't going where she thought it would. She didn't have much experience dealing with such a degree of unhappiness. The standard idea of a party came over her head, but that needed time to prepare, and it felt too soon for such an unfortunate event. She then thought of handing Fluttershy some balloons, perhaps one shaped like a squirrel, but she was nowhere near Sugarcube Corner and for once didn't have any on hoof, and even that felt too soon. She didn't even know what to say, and it wasn't like Fluttershy was talking either. Frustration soon came over the earth pony, almost starting to feel sorrow that Fluttershy was expressing, not only for the loss of life, but for her inability to cheer a friend up. She was the element of laughter! Why couldn't she instantly turn that frown upside-down like she's always done? She gritted her teeth and began to lift the peagsus' head up, to see her damp, damp eyes.
Fluttershy tried to turn her gaze away, but only saw these gigantic sympathetic eyes, so close to hers, but they were different, one not filled with tears, but even a slight anger came off of them.
"That squirrel is very, very mad," Pinkie pointed, though not looking at the cringing body herself.
Fluttershy hiccuped as she attempted to respond, in only a barely audible voice, "P-Pinkie?"
"Do you know why he's so mad?" Pinkie spoke again, waiting patiently for the little squeaks Fluttershy could only do at the moment.
The peagsus gulped, "I...k-killed him."
"Nope!" Pinkie responded quickly, so fast and almost cheerfully. It slightly disturbed the pegasus because for a blink Pinkie looked as if she was in her bouncy, cheerful state.
"Beeeeecause," Pinkie's emphasis was unnecessarily lengthening whatever she was trying to say, somewhat bothering the pegasus pony, "You are here crying, and not getting his smooshed pancake self off the street."
Fluttershy did not know how to respond, so Pinkie continued, "He can't go up to the rainbow in the sky. The bridge where all animals go to party so he can meet his grandpa and grandma! No, he's just a silly ghostie-wostie! Who is all see-through and can't eat all the nuts and cake he likes because it just goes through his body! And he can't talk to anypony because no pony can see him!"
The yellow peagsus wanted Pinkie to keep going, to list more reasons why the squirrel was so mad at her. She didn't even have time to be put off by Pinkie's description of the state the squirrel was in, due to her mouth going off at the speeds of hummingbird wings. She just didn't want more silence, or the sounds of her own sobs drowning out anything else in the street, but she did get the message Pinkie wanted to send. It would not do at all to have a bloody squirrel sitting on the street, not at all. She forced herself to take a look at the corpse once again, her throat almost lunging deep into her stomach to avoid the terrible sight, but nonetheless she gently scooped the bundle into her hooves, and noticed that the little creature looked a little peaceful when it was in her yellow arms over the cold lifeless ground. She decided to walk back to her cottage, with squirrels trailing behind her and Pinkie Pie right next to her. Yes, telling his family would be hard, but necessary, and putting him at rest would be the only way for the poor creature to move on and for her as well.
Fluttershy's frown may not have become a smile, but tears certainly flowed no more, and maybe that's all Pinkie had to do. For some reason she felt far more satisfied with this result over all the parties she had to cheer other ponies up. Of course, they needed one for this too at some point, to celebrate the squirrel's life, but it wasn't going to top this....maybe the party in the sky would.
The End
--
Well....that wasn't even a shipping story. I UTTERLY FAILED. AGH. There will never be a satisfying shipping story for me! NEEEEVER! And the beginning was slightly mocking these types of stories too, so that probably ruined it as well. BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH.
Oh well, let me end this with a funny picture because we all love funny pictures.

They weren't even the G1 Flutterponies, they were merely bees as ponies. They weren't even fairy ponies, they were just bee ponies. Bee fucking ponies. Oh G3. Why are you so nonsensical.
