This entry is about CHAPTER 183 of Negima, or the newest chapter. You can see some of its win already in my newest userpic. Yes, it has been confirmed that Sayo did possess the Sayo doll, and is now going to Britain with everybody else, WITH KAZUMI. (That is important, yosh it is)

It is also an entry of my own newest chapter of HFF, chapter 17. It is OVER FOUR THOUSAND WORDS! (I wish I could've said nine thousand, I wish)

As I spread my fangirlism, let's just say that the Sayo plush is ADORABLE and Sayo has a hard time walking, because she's been a footless floating ghost for like 60 years..and forgot how to walk. (So she fell down as a plush) I think Akamatsu is being influenced by the Negima!? anime, since there are a few things that remind me of Negima!? in it. (And no, it is NOT Motsu or Shichimi, the annoying creatures of Negima!?)

-Konoka and video games.

Konoka pwns Setsuna playing video games on the plane. (SON IN LAW!!! ZOMBIE RIDER!! sound familiar to you? Though we dunno what game they DID play, but it just reminded me when she lost at Zombie Rider, xDDD)

-Teh appearance of Anya.

Self explanatory?

Methinks the Sayo plush may be influenced from sukas, but probably not.

-Ayaka's love for Negi grows to a NEW LEVEL. Her jet has Negi's face on it and the words "Negi Love"

That's about it from the top of my head.

ANYWAY, the Chibi Mana (Cocone-lookalike) screwing up her math and losing money was amusing, and then her fight with Chibi Kaede! Hehe. Also, Anya and Nodoka became "human balloons" *nudge nudge wink wink* In an interesting way...the same way Asuna won the right to keep Negi in her dorm room in that early episode of the first anime. If you know what I mean.

More details after the translation comes out, until then...

The translation is out! Here's teh best page.... (to me, >>)

Hmmm, either Eva got it from hell, but the somehow tells me Asakura went to the gates of Hell, O_o
Oh well, I still want to stick by the unlikely ASAKURA ISTH A SHAAAAMAN THEORY YO!!!!

*cough*

Now then...

CHAPTER 17!

Some extras before the chapter!
AOI-DONO'S WONDERFUL ART TOUCHES MY LJ ONCE AGAIN!!!

Yuuna: "I'M NOT A BEAVER!!!(*$(&!$!!!!"

And one crappy thing I drew:

The random dragon may be a foreshadowed enemy...I dunno, xDDDD

Before we begin, I can safely say the name of the fanfiction "Happy Farm Friends" is still valid because while the characters are currently not HAPPY, they are not on the FARM, so of course, without the FARM in the HAPPY FRIENDS factor (in fact one character said she hated another!) it basically leads me to the conclusion that they can be emo, sad, angry, or whatever the hell they can be when they're NOT in the farm, thus the title of the fanfiction is still valid.

Unfortunately (for me, at least), this chapter contains absolutely NO KS at all. Well, it has plenty of the OTHER KS (Konosetsu), well if you think about it since Konosetsu is more popular and more "canon" (not completely, >>) IT should be the KS and KazumiSayo should be the OTHER KS, but I don't give a damn.

Mostly because this chapter, Sayo does not appear, and Kazumi (teh main character) has NO lines whatsoever. Wondering what the hell this chapter is about now!? Why is it over four thousand words, almost two chapters in one, but has no KS as all and no lines for the main character, Asakura Kazumi? In the last chapter, Kazumi was going to die, everything said she was going to die but IS she going to die? Perhaps the "no lines at all and the disappearance of Sayo" tells you if she died or not...

Well read and find out.

You will not find out.

Chapter 17: Flashback

A/N: This is a filler chapter, because stalling cliffhangers and still writing stuff is fun. It has many different scenes often happening at the same time period, unless noted otherwise.

----

Once upon a time on the Hasegawa farm, there lived an old man. He had been the owner of the farm for decades, and today there was a newborn calf. Every time a new animal arrived there would be plenty of celebration within the farm, and today was no different.

”Come, come, Chisame! You’re living on this farm, and someday you’ll inherit it from your old gramps! It’s good to get some experience!” The old man said, as he dragged a young nine-year-old girl towards the large red barn.

The young girl growled and cursed her parents for leaving her on the farm. In reality, her guardians who had raised her until the age of five left her on the farm with her old grandfather. They decided to pursue a dream within the city. Little do the two know, they were complete failures and ended up starving to death, but none of them cared.

As they entered the barn, there was a newborn cow, or a calf, as many called it. It was a female, which brought great joy to the grandfather, so they could get twice as much milk.

”Since this is the first time you’ve seen a newborn, you can name it yourself, Chisame!” The old man was overjoyed.

Chisame sighed and thought of several names as she petted the young calf. It was actually pretty adorable, and was staring at her with two big eyes.

”…Chizuru…” Chisame muttered, as the young calf moo’ed its first moo.

The old grandfather stretched his old bones and pointed to the pile of rather foul-smelling excreta.

”Now it’s time for your first job as a young farmer! The funnest part of being a farmer yet! Unfortunately your own grandpa’s back is failing these days, so you get to have all the fun at shovelling manure!”

Chisame groaned.

-

Three years later, within the trees of
Kappa Forest, a flock of crane were flying back north after a hectic mating season in the south. One crane landed on a tree onto its nest and counted her eggs.

”Wow, four eggs! That’s the most I’ve had in my life!” The crane cheered, and a male crane flew in and congratulated the bird.

”Wait…weren’t there…five eggs?”

”…uh…hmm…well! FOUR EGGS! YAAAY!”

”YAAAY!”

Meanwhile, at a smaller tree not very far from the above tree, two crows poked at their own eggs in their own nest.

”I hate being a mother. Stupid eggs, stupid mate, stupid son of a…”

”The eggs! They’re hatching!” The male yelled, and the eggs started…hatching.

The mother sighed as new life appeared, to terrorize her life once again until she throws them out of the nest to live on their own.

The first egg broke and out came a little baby bird. It was black, and cute, and black. It was important for the birds to be black, in fact, the blacker they were, the more superior they were. The mother in the meantime was complaining why male birds always look better than the females.

”Aha! The second egg is hatching! It’s even blacker! What wonderful kids! I’ll name you Clawtooth, and Featherbeak!”

”Those are horrible names.”

”WHO’S THE PRETTIER BIRD AND THE MAN OF THE NEST, HUH!?”

”…”

The father stared at the third and last egg, which finally started to hatch. Although before he recalled only two eggs, but he wasn’t exactly paying attention and the mother could give a rat’s ass about her children.

”…why is it…white?”

”It’s white? Well isn’t that new.”

”WHAT KIND OF DISGUSTING GENES DID YOU PUT INTO MY SONS!? WHAT IF THEY GO MATE AND PRODUCE WHITE BIRDS TOO!?! WE HAVE TO KILL IT!”

”…it looks like a girl bird…and we’re not killing it,” The mother said, “Just leave it in another nest and hope some other bird takes care of it.”

The male bird growled, “You and your morals!”

-

”It’s a girl!” An animal yelled on the other side of the
Kappa Forest.

The male animal was crying in happiness, “A daughter! My very own daughter! I shall call you Konoka! Ah yes, I always wanted to name my child Konoka. What a beautiful name it is, Konoka!”

”Eishun, um, bad news.”

The koala asked, “Hm, what is it? Is my daughter not healthy?”

”No, uh, your wife was eaten by a cheetah. We managed to save your daughter from its jaws, though.”

”…it was a noble sacrifice, protecting my child. We need to find a better means of protection for our animals. If we, the tribe of koalas, can survive for many generations to come in this forest, after all Konoka will someday inherit the leadership of the koala tribe, so she must be protected.”

For the koalas are the rulers of
Kappa Forest!

-

A few days later, Eishun was showing Konoka around the forest, and they reached the other end of the woods.

”This is where all the birds lay their eggs. They’re all probably hatching around now. You should know this because the birds are our greatest allies, and also our greatest enemies. Coming here alone would be very dangerous, but we negotiate with them constantly to keep peace in the forest…are you listening Konoka?” Eishun explained, pointing at the massive amount of nests in the trees.

Konoka was a young koala and so was extremely curious. She was climbing the trees towards a nest.

”Konoka! No! Get down from there! The mother birds will view you as a threat and attack!” Eishun quickly climbed up a tree trying to catch up to his one and only daughter.

Konoka peeked into a little nest and noticed a neglected white bird, “Daddy! I found a birdie!”

Eishun reached his only offspring and noticed no bird protecting the young baby bird from them, “It must be abandoned. Perhaps its mother was eaten…”

”Can we keep her, daddy?”

”No, we are not birds, and we can’t take care of them…”

”But it looks so hungry!”

Eishun sighed, “Hmm, it looks like a crane. Cranes are powerful graceful creatures…well alright! We’ll raise the bird and it shall become a great bodyguard!”

”I’ll name you…um…Setsuna! Yeah!”

And so they adopted the not-crow-but-actually-a-crane bird.

-

Two years later, in a den within a forest that’s not
Kappa Forest, but quite far from it actually. A mother yawned as she woke up, walking out of the den. Then she got annoyed by the squabbles from inside.

”No! We don’t have food yet! Be patient! Don’t pull on my fur! Play amongst yourselves! ARGH! I HATE MY LIFE!”

The mother was a tiger, and had a rough day in hunting the other day. Not only did she have to kill something to eat for herself, but she had two young tiger cubs within her den to protect and feed, who were also very annoying.

”Mama! Kuu keeps pulling my tail!”

”Well you took all the food last time-aru!”

”STOP SAYING ARU!”

The mother roared, “SHUT THE HELL UP!!!”

The loud yell from their stressed-out mother put the two cubs in a deathly silence.

”I’m going to go hunting, you stay in the den or a bear might eat you.”

With that, the tiger mother ran off searching for a deer, or a hog, or anything.

-

Meanwhile, near an unnamed river only a few hundred feet away, within another den called a ‘holt’ there lived two otters, two very PROUD otters.

”Mr. Ruddawing will be very pleased to hear of our coming children. We should join the other otters to swim to a lake far away from here after our children are old enough. The lake is where all the fish go to mate and lay their eggs. Be a good place for our children’s first feast.”

The female otter sighed, “But soon you’ll leave me to take care of the children myself, like all the damned otter males.”

”Of course not! I’ll stay by you forev—“ The otter noticed another female otter outside the holt and ran off screaming, “LET ME GIVE YOU MY GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENES!!!!!!!”

The pregnant otter sweatdropped, “Men. Hmm, looks like it’s time…”

-

In another area also quite close to the tiger den and the otter holt, was a nest in a nearby tree. There were three eggs within the nest, all newly laid. The mother was sitting on them, waiting for the father to return. Soon enough, the father did with a great amount of food in his mouth to feed his queen…erm, mate.

”Here you go. Protect those eggs and I’ll do all the food-finding…” The male said, “Our children look beautiful already…”

The female asked, “Sing a song for them, so they can hear how wonderful life would be when they finally come out…”

”Ah, alright!” The male, who was a canary, started singing a great tune that echoed throughout the forest. Many animals listened to nature’s boom box and then continued their hard life.

Afterwards the male noticed the sun about to go down, “Hm, we need food for the night. I shall return to you soon, my maiden!”

The female canary chirped and relaxed on her eggs, little did she know, there was some creeping up behind her, and several seconds later, only her feathers remained on the nest.

The female tiger mother had struck.

A few minutes passed, and the eggs started to get quite cold. A young otter noticed the ‘abandoned’ nest and climbed up the tree.

”Ah, I ran off from my wife for another otter…maybe she’ll take me back if I get her a canary. They taste good…huh, only the feathers are here…” The otter looked around, “Hm, the eggs will do!”

The male otter smashed the first egg and grabbed the premature embryo, then did the same for the second. He was about to kill the third egg when the father canary returned.

”AH! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!? GET AWAY!!” The canary pecked and kicked with its claws at the otter’s eyes, which jumped off, satisfied with two eggs and left.

The father looked at the lone egg beside many shells around it, “No…my beautiful maiden is dead, and two of my children…killed. It’s only you and me now, egg…”

-

Somewhere else, the tiger mother was exhausted. All the deer ran off from her chase, and she couldn’t find much hogs. She did catch something though, a delicious canary. The mother decided to give it to her daughter, since her son had eaten all the food last time.

”I’m back, kids…with the most delicious thing you’ll ever eat.”

The tiger mother entered the den and saw her two cubs sound asleep, at least one was. The tiger cub Ku Fei opened one eye and welcomed her mother back to the den.

”Don’t tell your brother this, and eat it up quick. It’s a canary, and you’re getting first dibs because he was greedy last time.”

”…this is delicious! I want more-aruyo!”

”Sorry, there’s not much food left in this forest…we could follow the otters to a new forest where there would be new food, and eat otters on the way, obviously.”

The young tiger cub hugged her mother, and they were happy within the den…for now.

-

The male otter trotted back into his holt, and he noticed a brand new otter there too. No, it wasn’t another male who took over, but the otter mother had given birth!

”What do you think you’re doing, Akashi? Didn’t you run off to another otter!?” The otter mother yelled.

”No, I was just humouring you…yeah! See, I went hunting and brought back two canary egg babies!” The male said, adding a white lie.

The otter mother smiled, “Hm, canaries are a delicious delicacy…give it to our brand new daughter, then.”

”…but isn’t she too young and can only drink milk—“

”MALES SHOULDN’T BE TELLING MOTHERS HOW TO BE MOTHERS!”

The baby otter leapt at the father and quickly ate the two egg birds, “This tasty! Vwery tasty!”

”What a feisty pup…I’ll name you Yuuna…that’s a good name for a feisty pup!”

”The other otters are leaving early; since the food shortage has become critical…I think we’re going to have to leave now. I hear the destination is the legendary Kappa Lake,” the male said.

”How frustrating…Yuuna could die under the harsh conditions of travelling far…”

”It’s only for our survival.”

”Then we should go…”

-

Konoka the koala was now a full-grown koala, well almost. The little bird she had saved had grown immensely though, and was larger than even the giggling little koala. The crane adapted well with the koalas and became quite close to Konoka, even going as far as vowing to protect her with her life.

Today was a special day, for now they were full-grown and could leave their parents and find their own place to live. Setsuna had made an oath to go live with Konoka and protect her from any danger. Once Eishun was too old, or had passed away, the koalas would come and fetch Konoka to take over as the leader of the Koala Tribe.

”Oh Secchan! I’m so excited!” Konoka shouted as they walked out of their old territory, “Daddy said we shouldn’t go too far, but not stay too close! Do you want to pick where we’ll live, Secchan?”

Setsuna was still not used to making conversation after all this time, as she had spent much of her childhood learning how to defend herself and others, particularly this ‘princess of Kappa Forest’.

”A-ah, Ojou-sama…we should choose s-somewhere very s-safe and u-um, comfortable! I’m v-very sure your j-judgement will c-choose the b-best place to s-stay!”

The koala laughed and play-smacked the crane in the back, “Don’t be so formal, Secchan! Oh, and call me Kono-chan, why don’t you?”

”K-kono-chan…um, w-we’re getting close to a r-river. There l-looks to be a h-human den over there…I t-think it’s called a f-farm…”

”OH! LET’S LIVE ON THAT TREE, SECCHAN! It’s close to the river for water, and close to the farm, too! In fact that’s a lot of animals to make friends with! Do you think so, Secchan?”

Setsuna inhaled deeply, “Ojou-sama…wherever you choose is fine with m-me…”

”I said call me Kono-chan! And wow, you almost went a sentence without stuttering! You’re getting better at talking, Secchan!” The koala jumped happily towards the tree.

The crane followed quickly, to what will soon be known to many as ‘Konoka’s Tree’.

-

A gunshot rang outside, and the tigers within the den heard the devastating noise.

”There’s a human outside…and they intend to kill…” The mother whispered, “We must be quiet.”

They heard the strange noises which they believed were victory roars from the humans.

”What are we huntin’ today?”

”Anything, there’s not much animals left in the forest. We should kill them all off so we can cut all these trees down and build a town,” another voice was heard.

“Why can’t we just start cutting, huh?”

The other voice replied, “There are cases where large animals attack us for destroying their habitat, would be safer if we just wipe them all out first. Plus there’s lots of business to be made by killing something like a tiger.”

”Hey! I found a den here!” The next voice was much louder, and the mother tiger could easily see the man.

”I will distract the humans, both of you run as fast as you can…” The mother whispered, “Don’t look back, and just keep running.”

With that, the mother tiger roared loudly and jumped onto the human closest to the den. The two cubs tried to run off, but a gunshot hit the male cub as they panicked to escape. Ku Fei kept running narrowly avoiding any other projectiles coming at her, and eventually the projectiles stopped. The now-orphaned tiger looked back.

”Where are they-aruka…?” Before the tiger knew it, another shot rang and she ran as fast as she could, looking back was a mistake.

The humans had stopped shooting, since they knew a lone cub without their mother could not possibly survive on their own, and went looking for other animals.

The tiger cub continued running until she found herself into the streets of a town, and bumped into a young girl who was eating…a nikuman.

”Look! It’s a cute little kitty! Here, eat some nikuman!” The little girl said and fed Ku Fei, who’s taste buds exploded with the most delicious thing she ever tasted, as good as the canary she had eaten just hours before.

The man beside the girl noticed the animal and thought that Ku Fei was a stray cat, so he took it to the nearest shelter.

-

The male canary was tired as he sat on the one egg. He was not used to doing this, since only the female birds would sit on eggs. He decided to sing a song to pass the time and dedicated it to his late family.

The song, though, attracted a few humans who were part of the ‘exotic pet trade’ and they saw the male and the one egg perched up in their nest.

”Canaries are booming in the pet trade business…what luck that we’ve found some rare ones here…” A woman said, peering at the birds, “Carefully capture them, and don’t break that egg!”

The male canary was pecking viciously at the human’s, “I WON’T LET YOU KILL MY LAST SHARD OF FAMILY!!!”

Except his whole nest was placed into a cage, and they had not touched the egg at all. The male was confused and looked at his home as the carriage the cage was in galloped away.

”Maybe these are the rumoured humans who take care of animals like us…”

-

There were several otters travelling down the river to some far away destination. The youngest of them was Yuuna, who was riding on her father’s back. Her father was called ‘Akashi’, which he seemed to want to go by, and was quite a respected otter as they travelled through the river. They were right; there were barely any fish left in the river and it wasn’t just because it was mating season. Even if it was, there would be several other animals in the water but none were there, not even their enemies, the beavers. They had swum past many empty dams, and saw no animals around them. It really was a good idea to travel to a new river or lake where there would be an abundance of food.

”Dada, where we goin’?” Yuuna asked for the fourteenth time.

Akashi replied, “We’re going to another lake with lots of tasty fish…now please stop asking…”

”I love Dada.”

”Yes, you love Dada…hmm…hey! How long is this going to take?” He asked another otter also travelling through the river.

The other otter looked around, “Maybe two or even three sunsets. I hope you creatures have extra food stored somewhere!”

”…uh oh.”

-

Several days later, about two or three sunsets, the otters were exhausted and starving but they had finally reached Kappa Lake, and it was as large and beautiful as it was rumoured to be. The wildlife around it was lush and flourishing as well. It seemed like the perfect paradise for the otters, and so they decided to settle in. There was a great feast of fish and clams.

Yuuna preferred her mother’s milk, and life seemed perfect…until…

”Akashi-san! Akashi-san! There is trouble!” An anonymous otter yelled. Its tail was wounded.

”What is it?”

”It appears that our numbers are dwindling…we think something is hunting us all. Most of us believe it’s the famous kappa that lives here…”

Before they knew it, a huge silhouette was cast over them all and a huge splash occurred. The otters swam as fast as they could towards land but many were ill-fated as several disappeared all together. Only a dozen made it back to the shore, including Akashi, but he was not worrying over the number of otters that survived, he was worrying about his family.

”Where’s my wife and my daughter!?”

An elder otter replied, “I’m afraid your wife was one of the first to be eaten, and your daughter is probably gone.”

”No! There’s an otter that washed up on the other side of the lake!” A young otter called, but the lifeless mammal on the other side did not respond.

”It’s quite small, that’s gotta be your daughter, but even if we could reach it, the amount of red we can see from here is substantial. She’d only be a burden if we save her…” The elder otter said, and he was right.

Akashi accepted the sad truth that nature was never nice to animals, and at times it feels like it wants you to die. He could go and mate with a new female and raise new pups, but it was too late for the fair Yuuna.

A human walked along the beach and noticed the injured otter pup on the shore, and picked it up. Yuuna would live the next few months within a shelter, being fed cow milk and being annoyed by several other animals within the shelter, particularly the beavers who called her a fellow beaver. In fact, they associated her together so much that even the shelter people thought she was a beaver (they are apparently very ignorant). Once she was shipped to the pet store though, they were smarter.

-

Within the shelter of a nearby town, Ku Fei was put into a cage and ate nothing but cat food for the time being. She hated it, and wanted canary, nikuman, or some sort of meat that her mother always had hunted for her, but those days were no more.

The odd thing was that the humans kept calling her a “cute little kitty”, so Ku Fei assumed that she was a cat, which she was, though the kind she thought she was, a housecat, was far from the truth.

After a few weeks within the shelter, Ku Fei noticed a now-14-year-old girl, Chisame, enter the shelter.

”Stupid cats at the pet stores are priced so ridiculously high. Hello, I require some damned cat, any would do.”

”Ah, we rescued one a few weeks ago, will this orange cat with black stripes that looks remarkably like a tiger cub but we’re all convinced it’s a housecat because the man with no animal experience whatsoever said so and we’re gullible idiots who believe whatever the rescuers say?” The woman at the desk said.

Chisame did not listen to her, and just took the cat. Ku Fei now had a very interesting life ahead of her, one not typical of regular tigers.

-

Only a kilometre away from the farm though, a pregnant hamster was running from a cheetah and leapt over a stream. Exhausted, it knew that after all that, probably not many of her pups would be alive. It was now or never, and the blind hairless babies that will soon show up…can only live if they reach the farm ahead…

-

The cage that housed a male canary and his un-hatched egg was sat at the pet store’s window. There were seeds in a little box to the side, and the father canary felt quite safe within the large cage.

”It’s too bad my maiden or my other children didn’t live long enough to see this…”

”HELLO THERE!!!”

”Except it’s awfully loud in here.”

A yippy dog barked at the canary within the cage. There were many other canaries in the other cages too, all male, since the males were the birds that sing, and looked better, often just to attract mates.

The dog Sakurako was incredibly excited to see newcomers into the pet shop and was eager to make conversation with them, but was often ignored because of her great hyper personality. The father canary yawned, and watched the town through the window. The humans behind him were discussing something.

”If that egg turns up to be a female, no one’s going to buy it because females are less colourful and don’t sing as much…what will we do with it?”

”Simple, its purpose will be for mating…if it stays in the store for more than a month, which is when new canaries are shipped in, we will let it be raped by all the males, and then have plenty of birds!”

The other man thought for a moment, “Yeah but that would require more work for us…we should just con a customer into thinking it as a male, since…you can’t really tell the difference anyway, besides singing and the colour.”

”Alright then!”

The father bird heard the egg beside him cracking, and was overjoyed, “Finally! My one and only child!”

The canary broke free and took its first look at its surroundings. Many things have happened as it was an egg, or before it was even laid. The first thing the canary heard was not her father’s loud and proud chirping though, it was a bark from a dog.

”Hello! My name’s Sakurako!”

The father then spoke the next words it would ever hear.

”Your name will be…Kazumi!”

-

Several months later, Yuuna watched as Ako dived towards the cat about to eat her oneechan. She leapt at her, attempting to stop her.

Somewhere quite further away, a rabbit raised her paw, and brought it down towards the four animals in the back of the bear cave.

Life is a very ironic and cruel thing.

-

If you think their lives are a little too…emo, well that’s actually common within the animal kingdom. The animals in the wild are not living like they’re in heaven; they lose lots of life and not many young ones live till adulthood. Survival is the goal all animals face, so consider the characters of HFF lucky, and maybe one day they will be happy. Although it’s not ALL realistic, like how bloody coincidental that Ku Fei ate Kazumi’s mom and Yuuna ate her siblings? Oh well.

AND YES, HAPPY FILLER CHAPTERS THAT SEEM LIKE PREQUELS ARE FUN. This chapter is very, very long, over four thousand words and ten pages. The equivalent of two chapters! Are you lucky that there’s such a long chapter? Or unlucky that it moved the plot very little at all? XP I also apologize if the story was too fast-paced, but I wanted it all to fit into one chapter, and even though it's much longer than one...it's still one chapter.

Plot shall move in Chapter 18, and soon it will come…maybe.

>D

Whahaha...okay, um, guess that's all for today. (I wonder if this is the longest post I've ever done, O_o?)
