Right, well this isn't as formal as...the formal. (Le prom) but I went to the Grad BBQ two days ago! It's basically a barbeque for all Year 12 students. It started out slow, then there was some games. I participated in one. The jello-eating contest...and I was last...

We couldn't use our hands, and everybody knows how much of a slow eater I am...xD

So yeah. Oh I also got a picture of them Yu Yu Hakusho lockers.

Okay, so Hiei looks like crap, whatever. Bleh.

Anyway...

CHAPTER 28 is finally here! 8D

Chapter 28: Revealed

The full moon shone brightly over Kappa Forest, as a howl could be heard from the distance. Everything seemed quiet, no sound to be heard for miles. Not even the wind of Mother Nature acted up to give off a spooky chill, it seemed dead. Animals looked to be missing, perhaps hiding in their holes or other homes, today was very silent.

In the middle of said forest though, the puffing of a canary was a noise that came up. She was running through the woods, jumping over twigs, and dodging any low branches. The speed she was going was remarkable, as the leaves flipped over from the breeze resulting from her run. The looks of her eyes were gleamed over; it looked as if she was quite sleepy, drooping eyelids and constant yawning plagued the young bird.

Unknown to everybody else the bird was not alone. When the pear-coloured animal stopped, she peered up at the sky, her breath not stopping for a moment. The winged creature sighed, closing her eyes but her expression remained calm, oddly enough. Seconds later, her eyes rose back up to look ahead of her. Her road seemed long and endless. Her mouth finally opened to break up the creepy silence that reigned over the forest.

”Sayo-chan…can you see anything?”

A misty glaze overhead shook her head, frowning back at the exhausted bird, “If the sun hadn’t gone down fifteen minutes ago, it might’ve been easier, but…”

”But you’re a ghost! You should be able to see in the dark!”

”Kazumi-san…it’s not that simple. The moon is really bright right now…and my sight is best in complete darkness. Ironic, isn’t it? I’m sorry for not being much help…”

Kazumi raised her wing, trying to stop the spirit from speaking, “No, no. Don’t say that! You’ve been helpful to me so much already…you don’t need to do anything now! We’re bound to find Ako!”

”Let’s hope we will, and that she’s okay,” Sayo said quietly, looking off into the distance, “but I think we’re close. Do you think Yuuna-san’s going to be okay?”

Kazumi grinned, positioning her legs for another bout of running, “We’ve gone through more than that! If she’s dead, I won’t forgive her. Besides, that otter is tough, she’ll live.”

In reality though, both of them had a horrid feeling in the back of their head that they wanted to forget. The sight of the incident back then was gruesome, if anything. The doubts in their minds continued to give them many worries, as they continued on their journey to find the missing chick.

-

The snake was cornered in the back of an abandoned old cabin. Its roof was completely torn off and most of one of its walls had disappeared. Ku Fei and Setsuna approached the snake, and the closer they got, the more dangerous the situation was.

”Return Ojou-sama at once!” Setsuna demanded, but she knew her command would be ignored.

They heard the slithering sounds of the snake, and suddenly it snapped. The slender creature shot its body towards the tiger and crane. Setsuna managed to take into flight, but Ku Fei did not have that advantage. The wildcat leapt to the other side, narrowly dodging the swift but deadly bites from the monster. Setsuna growled and whipped her head around, as a koala caught her eye. She flew towards her beloved Ojou-sama who was behind the snake as Ku Fei heroically distracted it.

”Ojou-sama! I’m coming!”

”Secchan! Wait! It’s a tra—“

All of a sudden the snake’s tail smashed up into the white bird, throwing her far up into the air. The koala cried in shock, as Ku Fei could do nothing as she watched the helpless warrior fly off. The snake then turned its attention back at the tiger, its greatest threat. It twisted its head in a flexible swing, disallowing the tiger from dodging much longer as it used more of its strength to trap the wildcat.

The snake moved so fast that the blades of grass blew in its direction. It opened its gigantic mouth and smashed it closed at the tiger. Ku Fei barely dodged, a part of her ear had disappeared, and blood dripped from the insignificant injury. She managed to run towards the koala, but the snake turned just as fast and had almost bitten into them if it had not been a white bird who had fallen back down, with her blade’s tip facing the snake’s head.

Setsuna reflected off the snake’s head, its tough skin once again protecting it from certain death. She landed next to the princess of koalas and a tiger.

”We’ll have to aim for its mouth! Ku Fei! Get Ojou-sama out of danger! I can handle this!” Setsuna ordered, raising her blade that she named the ‘Yuunagi’.

Ku Fei growled, dodging another attack from the snake, “No you can’t-aru! It’s too fast, and look what it did to Yuuna-aruyo!”

”I will gladly give my insignificant life just for Ojou-sama to be safe! Now please get her out of here!” The crane’s voice had a stubborn tone to it.

Another swift swing from the snake, which was faster than the last, Setsuna managed to shield herself with her sword, standing in front of the tiger and koala.

”Go, damn you!”

Ku Fei argued, “You have to get her out of here! We’re stuck in the corner and you can fly-aruyo!”

”But you can’t defend yourself with anything! You wouldn’t be able to live long enough to make much of a distraction!”

Suddenly, a sharp motion from the snake’s tail smashed into the crane, tiger, and koala into the wall.

”O-Ojou-sama!” Setsuna twitched, reaching her wing towards the koala, “I’ve failed at protecting you so many times! I am not worthy to be your bodyguard…but I must at least get you out of this danger!”

In a rapid move, the crane spun her blade and sliced into the snake’s mouth, causing it to cry out and jump back. The bird then jumped and grabbed the koala, flying her out of the cabin. Ku Fei followed as the snake shook its head in pain. The white bird landed near a tree, puffing in exhaustion holding a wounded wing from being hit by the snake’s tail.

”Secchan…”

”Are you hurt anywhere, Ojou-sama? Because if you are I will…”

”It’s okay, I’m fine. Thank you…”

Ku Fei mumbled, “That’s fine. Nobody thank me, aruyo.”

The snake swung around and faced the three animals, slithering at them.

”This is the toughest thing we’ve fought yet!”

-

Haruna continued to waddle as Nodoka continued to push herself towards this ‘man’ that Chisame had saw before. Yue was flying, and Misora was around twenty metres ahead.

”You’d think she’d just send the FAST animals…” Haruna puffed, “I can only swim fast!”

Yue said, “Well, that pig is fast.”

”Hey, what did she mean by magic?”

”Well, if she can turn into human and fox, I guess that’s magic.”

”Oh.”

”Are we even going to the right direction? WE DON’T EVEN KNOW WHERE THIS GUY IS!”

”We’re just following the pig…where ever she’s going…”

They looked ahead and saw that the pig had stopped. As they moved closer they saw why.

”Uh oh…”

Misora the pig had bumped into a menacing animal. One that they had faced before and one that was not happy at seeing these animals again…

-

This…is not good.

I guess that talk with Chao gave me this sense that they were practically invincible, so I didn’t give it much thought that something like this could happen. After all, they had luckily survived so many other things: their own predators and even a dragon for god’s sake.

And yet…

Even if the bite itself wasn’t fatal, the poison would’ve killed her anyway. It was inevitable. The fang pierced her chest, her heart. She’s pretty dead by the looks of it. Limp, eyes rolled back…

I can’t just stand here staring down at her. That snake is merciless. I could follow Kazumi, but there’s a chance she might’ve bumped into trouble, or not, same with those other animals I sent after Nagi. It is Setsuna, Konoka, and Ku Fei who are definitely in trouble.

Chisame gritted her teeth in frustration as she raced off towards the snake.

Yuuna…is dead.

-

Kazumi continued to run. She had run non-stop for an hour. The hour felt long, extremely long, like a whole day, although it was night. Yet she had spotted something small and yellow, or rather, her invisible companion did. Finally, the speeding canary reached a large field, and there was Ako, lying innocently at the middle.

Ako!” The canary ran towards the unconscious bird, when she was interrupted by a large creature.

”Who are you!?” Kazumi yelled, as she screeched to a stop.

The animal growled, “I should be asking you that!”

”That doesn’t matter! That bird you have behind you, she is my—“

”Shut up. Answer my question!”

Kazumi frowned, “Why are you being so rude? I just want to retrieve that bird!”

”I won’t let you. Tell me, are you affiliated with the koalas?” It asked.

”I suppose so, but—“

”AHA!” The animal shouted, “Then you know where a certain goat as gone!”

The canary tilted her head to the side, “What the hell are you talking about!?”

”The koalas took away that goat.”

If Kazumi had eyebrows, she’d be arching them, “I haven’t actually met them, just one.”

”Doesn’t mean you don’t know where the goat is.”

”But I really don’t know where some goat is, whatever a goat even is!”

”If you don’t even know what a goat is, then I can tell you’re lying. Everybody knows what a goat is.”

”I don’t!”

”Sure you don’t.”

”I don’t have much time either, can I just please get my little bird friend and leave, please!?”

”No.”

”WHY!?”

”Because you know where the goat is and you’re not telling me! So until you do I’ll keep that chick to myself, maybe even eat it…”

”NO! You can’t do that!”

”I’m a bit of a carnivore. I do eat animals.”

”I don’t see you eating me! A delicious little canar—“

Sayo tried to interrupt the young bird, “Kazumi-san, I don’t think you should say that…”

”Not now, Sayo-chan! Can’t you see I am trying to persuade this…what are you?”

”Panther.”

”Panther! Now, see I’m the most delicious meal you’ll ever encounter, and you want a chick!?”

”Who were you just talking to?”

”That isn’t important! I WANT AKO BACK!”

”Maybe if you stop being stubborn and tell me where my goat friend is, I’ll give your companion back.”

”BUT I DON’T KNOW! GAH!”

”I don’t have all day, so. Hm, this may seem a little evil, but I’m a predator so…If you don’t tell me where that goat is, I will eat that chick!”

”I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU DON’T HAVE A CRAVING FOR ME, A CANARY!”

Sayo smacked her forehead.

”Oh, I get it. You’re a canary. I’m not so good at identifying species…”

”YES! A CANARY!”

”Why are you making such a big deal about it?”

”Me equals canary. Canary equals delicious. Canary equals rare. Canary equals eaten!”

”Yes, I have heard the rumours of them being quite delicious, but I can’t eat you because you know where the goat is.”

”NO I DON’T!”

”Then you’re saying I can eat you?”

”NO YOU CAN’T!”

”Then you’re being one confusing bird.”

”WHY WON’T YOU GIVE ME AKO!?”

”You should be asking yourself why you’re not telling me where the goat is.”

”BUT I DON’T KNOW!”

”This therefore allows me to eat you, which you say I cannot, so your statements contradict themselves.”

”WHY ARE YOU BEING SO DAMN FRUSTRATING!?”

”Why are you being frustrating should be the question, young delicious meal.”

”THERE ARE LOTS OF OTHER ANIMALS THAT MIGHT KNOW WHERE THE GOAT IS! NOT ME!”

”That means I can’t now not eat you.”

”YES!”

”I MEAN NO! DAMN IT! STOP CONFUSING ME!”

Finally, after that long and useless argument, another animal appeared to stall their pointless shouting. Actually only Kazumi was shouting, the panther was quite calm, probably because it wasn’t about to be eaten.

”Madoka! There you are. I’ve been looking for you all over this stupid forest!” A cheetah said, running towards her, “GASP! A CANARY!”

Kazumi growled, “Oh fiddlesticks.”

-

A fox was rushing towards an extremely dangerous predator and some animals that would surely die if she did not get there in time. Her expression seemed solemn, but it felt like the canine was shaking, as if she was keeping something in. The air around her set in as the young animal tripped on a tree root, falling on the ground. She was all but solemn now.

Damn it Chisame, don’t cry.

She saw herself trying to form her paw into an aggravated fist. Pounding the ground before her, the fox looked up ahead, beginning to hear the sounds from the devastating battle. The snake was swift and stealthy killer, never hesitating like all the animals they faced before. In that sense it was the most dangerous of all, but why would it attack now?

I can’t believe I’m feeling such things for just some animal. I’ve hunted animals before, and ate them like any carnivore. Never have I felt anything from their deaths, just survival…

This time it was different. She became a stupid fox and thus could interact with her animals, who while incredibly moronic, were friendly in some way. Living on a farm alone with no other companion wasn’t exactly a thrilling experience, and yet she liked her isolation. Maybe it wasn’t because of the internet, or being a net idol, or being alone that kept Chisame from dumping the farm and moving into the town. If she had never befriended such animals, these feelings would’ve never surfaced!

Why can’t I just be full human and eat my animals like any stupid farmer!?

The fox gritted her teeth, staring at the distance where she was headed. She suddenly twitched, such feelings plagued her completely. She hated every bit of it and just wanted to go back home. She could, actually, since a cow was still around there. All she needed was that cow to survive, and when was the last time she updated her website? Those fans must be as impatient as a boar by now. Her grip on the ground’s soil tightened, as she closed her eyes, just thinking, thinking what life she could’ve had if she was never such a stupid fox, if she never became a farmer in the first place, if she was still in the future…

Such lucky, lucky creatures those humans are…

Suddenly, the fox’s tail started to glow, illuminating the forest surrounding her. As the light started to dim and then eventually disappear, the fox then had two tails, wagging behind her like an idiot dog. Again, the tails started to glow, each continuing in the same sequence, four, and then finally…eight tails.

A panda stood behind a tree nearby, watching the transformation, with a grin plastered on her muzzle.

Fufufu…so you’re edging your limit, aren’t you Chisame? It doesn’t seem like you’ve reached the nine tails yet, so disappointing. What kind of kitsune are you? I’ve met some that have destroyed forests, islands even…

Surprisingly, the magical fox’s pupils turned towards the panda, as if it knew she were there. Finally one more tail glowed, albeit a little late, and split into two. The fox, or kitsune rather, growled loudly, like the being had lost its ability of speech, when turning into this…monster.

It leapt off, running towards what would definitely be, the doom of the snake, and maybe everything close to it, too.

-

Sayo: All’s well in the omake, as all are asleep, in their soft beds, no monster a-creep. The moon shone outside, giving off light, it was sky’s pride, a beautiful sight. As the still campers dream in their tent, snoring like hamsters, sleeping in lent…WAKE UP!!!!

Yuuna: *jolts up* Eh? What? *yawns* HEY! I was having a wonderful dream!

Ku Fei: *stretches as she sits up* Is it time for the omake yet-aruyo?

Kazumi: Zzzzzzz…

Sayo: YES IT IS! WAKE UP!

Ku Fei: *dons beard* AH! HELLO KIDS-ARU! You might be wondering why we’re sleeping in the middle of a dark scary forest-aruyo! Well we decided that to connect more with the story above, that we should go find our respected animals that we are-aru! For example, Yuuna must find an otter; Haruna must find a penguin, and me-aru? A TIGER-ARUYO!

Haruna: *half-asleep* …but there are no penguins in this forest… *yawns*

Yuuna: And there aren’t any otters or tigers on
Japan, Kuu!

Ako: That and Kazumi is a domesticated canary, which aren’t wild, while a chick would only be found on a farm.

Misora: PIGS TOO!

Ku Laozi: I KNOW THAT-ARU! That’s why I went to the zoo and farm and pet store and released ALL ITS ANIMALS HERE-ARUKA!

Chisame: YOU DID WHAT!?!?!

Ku Laozi: OH, and of course, let me introduce to you to today’s guest-aru! PLEASE WELCOME CHAO LINGSHEN-ARUYO!

Chao: Hello.

Misora: I thought you went back to the future.

Chao: Who can give up a guest spotlight in some stupid omake like this yo!?

Chisame: I CAN.

Ku Laozi: AND BESIDES, SHE IS MY BEST FRIEND, so logically she should be a guest one day-aru! *nodnod*

Kazumi: Zzzzzzzzzzzzz…

Yuuna: *kicks* Wake up you!

Sayo: She’s tired from doing so much on the set yesterday at Dogger studios…

Yuuna: No! She kicked me before! So I can kick her! *kicks*

Kazumi: *opens one eye* Stop kicking me…zzzzzz…

Yuuna: I CAN KICK YOU ALL I LIKE! *kick, kick, kick, kick*

Kazumi: *chomps Yuuna’s leg*

Yuuna: OW!

Haruna: Say, isn’t Yuuna like…DEAD in the story? How can she still be here in the omake?

Sayo: Don’t be silly, remember when Zazie wasn’t even introduced up there but was still a guest? Besides, if Yuuna doesn’t appear in the omake, our one fan will go crazy!!!

Haruna: I see…

Gorilla: *RAWR!!!*

Chisame: THERE’S AN APE OUTSIDE THE TENT!!!

Ku Laozi: How unfortunate-aru! None of us are gorillas so we can’t go say hi to it, arune!

Misora: *looks out the tent* OH LOOK! THE GORILLA IS HARRASSING AN OTTER AND CANARY!

Yuuna: You know, something tells me we have to go out there. WILL YOU GET YOUR TEETH OFF MY LEG ALREADY!? I STOPPED KICKING!

Kazumi: Mwah.

Ku Laozi: *impatiently stomps her feet on the floor*

Kazumi: Okay, okay, we’re going!

Chao: Say, does something like this always happen to those two-ne?

Ku Laozi: Our ratings are high because we have violence-aruyo!

Yuuna: (outside) THERE ISN’T ANY OTTER HERE!

Kazumi: (outside) OR A CANARY!

Misora: Well of course! Why would a canary and otter just suddenly come out of nowhere just so you two have an excuse to get hurt!? That’s so UNLIKELY! Realistically, I was just told to lie to you for the entertainment of our viewers!

Yuuna: (outside) But the gorilla’s gone too…

Ku Laozi: Probably ran away because there’s a tiger behind the—

Kazumi: (outside) GWAH! THIS TIGER IS TRYING TO EAT ME!

Yuuna: (outside) How odd…in the real story the tiger does want to eat Kazumi…

Dragon: (outside) Hello there, you should-be otter.

Yuuna: (outside) You know maybe if I just never talk things will never happen. Yeah.

Ku Laozi: AND NOW I SHALL GO OUT SINCE I FOUND MY ANIMAL-ARUYO! Today’s lesson? NEVER TRUST MISORA-ARUKA!

Misora: HEY! I WAS TOLD TO SAY THAT!

Ku Laozi: Riiiiiiight…bye kids!!!

*the fire goes out*

Chisame: This is ridiculous.

Sayo: HEY! THE OMAKE ENDED! SHUT UP!

Chisame: Grrr… *bitten by a fox* Oh great, now I’ll get rabies and become Dogger. Happy happy joy joy!

S’woot!
