Kazumi is not nearly as revealing in the manga. (Still revealing, but at least her top is the right size for her breasts, unlike here >>; XD)

It's time to rant.
As you can see from the picture above, Kazumi is very much awesome eyecandy for males (and certain females, XP) alike. (Then there's those pedophiles who like flat-chested people like Yue, XD) That's probably one of the big reasons why people like her and classify her as their "waifu--" I mean favourite character. For me that is simply a bonus. Of course, having a hot body certainly helps with her character. It just makes sense. If she wins at everything, and is intelligent and badass, she must have a nosebleed-causing body to come with it. Then again, if you think about it that only works for most males. Most anime fanboys like the cute moe characters (coughNodokaorChachamarucough), or the tsunderes (coughChisamecough). It's not necessarily the traditional big chest and nice curves.
Of course looks is not what I'm going to get into. Sure, Kazumi is hot, but if that's the only reason someone likes her, then they fail. Seriously. There's moe cute characters all over the place. Sayo's a little different from them, What I mean is that character who acts like a submissive girl. One who would blush and deny their feelings, and feel depressed that they are in fact in love with a LOSER like this or a TEN-year-old boy! Or thinking their horrible for being in a love triangle with their best friend! There's many of them in anime, and honestly I think that's actually good. Well, it's either that or that horrible fangirl bitch in that random shounen anime, so all the fangirls of some random yaoi pairing want her dead...or something. In non-animated media, there's rarely a character like that. The reason is the moe cute girl needs to have all those exaggerated and cute expressions only the drawings can handle, and you can't express that in real life. I think that's good.
However, Kazumi is different from them, and everybody on my friend's list knows how much I like difference. If Negima were like, a drama instead of an anime, Kazumi would be a whore to me. Not only because I'm a loser who thinks real humans are pretty ugly besides a select few, but when you see a girl with very revealing clothes on in a non-animated movie, people immediately go: "WHORE!". In the Negima manga, you see them all naked all the time, in the baths, getting dressed, at a beach wearing the most revealing bikini you have ever seen...and then there's those times where their clothes is blown off, or they just aren't wearing clothes for absolutely no reason other than the mangaka wanted them naked. Lol.
And although perhaps you could say they're whores as well, the impact isn't as great. Simply because you've seen them naked so many goddamn'd times, and in real life most actresses don't want to show themselves naked in some movie, unless it's an X-rated movie or something.
Anyway, the only reason I call Kazumi a whore even in a manga, is because she acts like one even as a ten-year-old. Not that I mind, really. Every character has their flaws, and it's hilarious to see people's reactions, especially those people who go: "Omfg, I've suddenly become a pedophile". or something. XP Besides, I believe true obsession, or at least love for a character, is instead of denying a character's flaws and arguing with a bunch of other people, saying you are insulted that people are calling your character a such name, when it is inevitably true, you accept it and maybe even like it. At first I was a little peeved that people were saying "Is it me, or did Kazumi get more slutty when she turned 10?" But then in the end....it just sounds amusing. Very. Plus it's true.
What I do get annoyed at is those fans who claim Kazumi is the most likely to betray all the other characters. Uhm, she's the ONLY character out of them all who's dislike on her official profile, written by the Akamatsu god himself, who has "Great Evil" there. That means she dislikes those who are bad. When she found out that her helping Chao could send Negi into a life of an ermine, she immediately switched sides, and it's not like Chao was actually that evil. Though Fate seems much more evil, and when you see your teacher getting speared in the chest with a spike, I highly doubt one with actual morals and dislike for evil would join someone so disgusting and violent like that. (But Fate is cool, =P) Also, the "brainwashed/lost her memory" idea doesn't work either because Kazumi seems to have a great amount of street smarts. She's smart enough not to die, unlike Chisame or Ako or any of those characters who almost died/became slaves. So unless it was EVERY girl/MOST of them that got brainwashed as well (Kazumi was caught with almost all of Negi's companions during the Wilhelm miniarc) Kazumi is not going to that bad side, ever.
So to the actual point of this rant (lol yeah the point didn't get through yet). Maybe I am just really biased, but I must say, out of all characters I have been obsessed with so far in my life, I truly think Kazumi is the greatest. Yes, more than Rei. I have plenty of reasons. As I've said before, to truly love a character is to have a grasp on their flaws as well, either you hate them or love them, if you know they have some and you don't regard the character as perfect (although Kazumi IS the answer to the meaning of life =P) then you clearly have understood the character. For Rei, it possibly could've been my immaturity in the past, but I thought he was perfect back then. I thought he was so awesome, I started a shrine for him and called him GOD. He was god. All the OMG became OMR. I started editing photos by putting a really faded out picture of Rei there and dubbed it "A SIGHTING OF GOD!!! OMR!!!". Today, Rei is far too angry in season three, and he does NOTHING in season two. I don't like how he looks (he's fat) in season one, and his hair is absolutely horrible when down in season one. Of course, perhaps one reason for my flocking to him is that I have loved tigers for as long as I can remember. The animation company that did Beyblade cannot draw hot chests at all. And his personality is BORING. And if he's supposed to be so awesome and badass, he LOSES too much and is always "Okay I lost whatev" instead of trying not to lose anymore? Grr. That's why I flocked to Max. Max is cool. He's also adorable. I like any character that's adorable. :3

Why do I say Kazumi is by far the greatest of all my obsessions? Now, I've had others. Like LF2, except they have no personalities. ._.;
Then there's B-Daman (seriously, the anime is retarded, I guess I just went for the characters o_O) but Li got brainwashed and has to depend on his brother. That kind of annoys me frankly...I don't know why. I guess I don't like characters who get taken advantaged of.
So after all those guys, I needed some change. Of course I liked Sailor Moon, but I never got attached to any particular character (although Ami of the Live Action rocks because she was at least BADASS when she was brainwashed, unlike Li who freaked me out) and Minako in the anime because she is hilarious. Yet, I did not get attached to them. But they were all mindless shounens(/shoujo) for little kids. The characters were not developed enough. They did not influence me. (or they're way too positive...>>;)
Kazumi influences me. Kazumi is my fictional role model. Kazumi is the friend I've always wanted.
But at the same time, if Kazumi was real, all those above would be impossible. Why?
Well first, I don't give one little damn about journalism. So, unless Kazumi is in my class, I would've never heard of her until she has a very prolific career as a journalist, which I would not give a damn about.
And if she were in my class, unless my name is Sayo Aisaka and I'm a ghost, she would only end up talking to me if I was ever in the middle of a scoop, or something. (I'm more like an Ako. YAY YUUNA IS MY FRIEND 8D)
And because she keeps annoying people with her attempts to get stories, and although she can be nice, she teases ALL the time, which actually isn't half-bad but it feels awkward when you don't know her that well. (And 3-A is an oddball class, so unless ALL of them are in a class with me, it'd feel strange)
But by watching her on a computer screen and reading her from a manga, she is a really great person.
I mean Sayo is such a lonely sad little ghost. She is in the worst possible situation in terms of loneliness (Or maybe Evangeline, but Sayo cares more about friends than her, lol) And only she, not any of the other characters. Not the main characters who can see her, not even Negi (he has 30 other students to give attention to as well, after all) would give her time to be nice and hang out with Sayo. I mean honestly, Kazumi would usually be far too busy out at night at 11pm selling her body in pursuit of a story finding the juicy details of a good scoop then to hang out with a lonely sad ghost. Yet, she does.
It's just amazing because you NEVER see Kazumi with any other friend. You would think, since she doesn't have one, that she is incapable of being nice or even making one, but Kazumi DOES. You would think that all she has in her mind is scoop scoop scoop! but she is human, she has morals, she hates evil.
And not just that, she goes even further to help her friend in need. She finds a way to get Sayo a little closer to life (teh Sayo doll). She takes Sayo with her to places, shows her things she never could've seen in her short life. It's just kind of amazing that way. (The first anime really helps. Negima!? on the other hand goes into little detail of how Kazumi became her friend. She just ends up seeing her, and you never really figure out why she just decided to hang out with her. Do NOT get me started with the Live Action. KazuSayo FAILED there.)
And at the same time, Kazumi isn't sickeningly nice. She still keeps up her exterior of "I want a freakin' scoop and I can blackmail you to get it!" She brings great humour (ALL HAIL SADIST KAZUMI!!!...who only Chisame can conquer 8D). She's kind of greedy. Well, I'm kind of greedy too. Lmao. Oh, and she's a bit of a pervert. Well at least she's hot. I mean I wouldn't want to see some fat girl be a whore and always shows the world most of her skin (ewww...).
And even if Kazumi is guilty of the sin, lust, KazuSayo is probably the most angelic pairing out there. KonoSetsu can go into the realms of the 'forbidden act', but have you EVER seen a KazuSayo doujin where they hump each other like pigs? Hell no! I haven't even seen art of them making out! And only ONE fanart of a kiss, which was a kiss on the cheek (okay, now it's getting a little sad...). I've seen fanfics where they made out (though honestly it sounds OOC O:).
Realistically, Kazumi and Sayo will forever be friends in canon. And you know what? I'm completely fine with that. I love their friendship. The actual shipping is just a little bonus thing to latch onto. The friendship is a part of Kazumi's character (and a huge part of Sayo's, lol). Really, that's one reason why I prefer it over KonoSetsu. Setsuna has NOTHING ELSE IN HER PERSONALITY AND CHARACTER other than Konoka. Konoka has some herself, but it isn't as much as I'd like it to be. Kazumi has an ambition, which I need. She has a goal where she never gives up on, which I need. She's intelligent and is not a procrastinator, which I have to be. She is independent, which I want to be. She can be funny, and is the nicest person ever in Sayo's eyes, and I really want a friend like that. Sayo has an excuse to not have much life outside of Kazumi (besides being dead), she can't REMEMBER her life. What were her interests? What did she do? Who knows? At least Sayo spins pencils. What does Setsuna do? Kendo? Yeah, but she does it for Konoka. Geez. Sayo doesn't spin pencils for Kazumi.
"I WILL WIN THE PENCIL-SPINNING CHAMPIONSHIP FOR ASAKURA-SAN!!!" Yeah, that won't happen, lawl.
Of course many Konosetsu fans probably like KonoSetsu FOR that reason (and others, obviously), and I have no problem with it, it sounds romantic anyway. It just isn't my thing. (That won't stop me from writing a KonoSetsu scene in any story I write whenever I get Writer's Block, lawl. Awesome cannon fodder!)
There are several dozen bonuses on Kazumi too. Her personality is the core. She's hot. She has awesome hair. Her hair colour is awesome too (I like KazuSayo's colour of red and white (GO CANADA! Or even Japan, XD) rather than KonoSetsu's colour of brown and black (What flag has those two colours?!)) Kazumi's voice is very unique. (And awesome. Jellophish is awesome). Her eyes are BLUE. . .or red. . .or purple. . .or I don't know. They should make up their mind, I'll go with blue. And it contrasts nicely with Sayo's red eyes. 8D. She's not too tall, yet not short like hell. (Which also fits her personality) And it's not like she has to be brash all the time, her singing in Egao no Hana is soft and cute. Now, if a character like Kazumi who acts quite indecently as a 10-year-old can be in the most purest and cute pairing like KazuSayo, then Kazumi really must win. Obviously Sayo helps her with her ULTIMATE INNOCENCE...which actually isn't that innocent since she knows what the word sadist means and realizes that when Kazumi screws Chachamaru, it looks like sex. XD Hey, maybe finding a doujin of them humping like pigs isn't too impossible after all.
Finally, even though I wrote like four paragraphs on KazuSayo...I'm not SET on that pairing. As I've said, friendship would be completely fine with me, and I ALSO love the pairing ChisameKazumi (because of a CERTAIN doujin, and several fanfics), then again, I love ChisamexEverybody. (Simply because pairing up a person who hates everybody WITH everybody is incredibly amusing) But if Kazumi IS paired off with someone other than Sayo, I do not want to see one-sided KazuSayo because it makes me horribly sad. Sayo has enough loneliness already, and doing that just...gah. @_@. You're one cruel bitch if you do that. Strangely enough I'm not fond of other Sayo pairngs besides Kazumi. Maybe it's because it doesn't seem very realistic. Zazie can see her yes, but she probably scares the hell out of Sayo, and them pairing up just because of that one chapter REALLY doesn't work with me. Although, I don't mind ChisameSayo, 'cause as I've said before...it's hilarious. But this pairing isn't seen too often so blah. Then there's SayoxKonoemon....
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it IS realistic if you look at it from the first anime viewpoint (but the first anime failed, :X. EXCEPT episode 19...ugh) It's just...Konoemon is now old and ugly. His head is deformed. He obviously married to have Konoka's mother so she could marry Eishun and then they bang it up and have Konoka. Yeah, Sayo might have been a first crush of his or something, but it's been sixty years, he married. He had CHILDREN, THOSE CHILDREN had children. And then people are like, "BUT OMFG SAYO LOOKS LIKE KONOKA LOLOLOLOL" Well, Sayo died when she was 15. I HARDLY think a girl who seems so angelic and pure (well, maybe not as much) and a guy who became such a WISE man, who ISN'T a pervert (it'd make more sense if his personality was like that of his Live Action counterpoint) would bang it up with each other. Why would Sayo be a teenage mother!? And because she died when she was 15, chances are that if Sayo IS Konoka's grandmother, Sayo probably would be 14 when they...'did it'. EGADS. Then again, people say in the past a 14-year-old girl married like, a 40 year old guy. But I highly doubt Konoemon is THAT old. Maybe he was 20 then? Oh great, I'm only adding points that Sayo actually IS Konoka's grandmother, lol.
But really, no matter how many points you give that are pro-she is her grandmother, it's still a VERY unlikely theory. It'd be too conicidental that Sayo just HAPPENED to be her grandmother. Akamatsu isn't a shit writer, not like Kishimoto, who revealed that the 4th Hokage is Naruto's dad. I know everybody thought that MUST be true 'cause they looked so similar! But a good writer wouldn't go on such an obvious (and cliche) path! How was that shocking? >>;
Of course, I wouldn't mind if Sayo had a sister (like the anime) and SHE is who Konoemon married, thus why Sayo and Konoka look alike. It's mostly because we don't know who this sister became or what her personality is like, if she even exists. (In canon, that is) So, really there's many possibilities.

Really, that's one reason why I prefer it over KonoSetsu. Setsuna has NOTHING ELSE IN HER PERSONALITY AND CHARACTER other than Konoka. Konoka has some herself, but it isn't as much as I'd like it to be. Kazumi has an ambition, which I need. She has a goal where she never gives up on, which I need. She's intelligent and is not a procrastinator, which I have to be. She is independent, which I want to be. She can be funny, and is the nicest person ever in Sayo's eyes, and I really want a friend like that. Sayo has an excuse to not have much life outside of Kazumi (besides being dead), she can't REMEMBER her life. What were her interests? What did she do? Who knows? At least Sayo spins pencils. What does Setsuna do? Kendo? Yeah, but she does it for Konoka. Geez. Sayo doesn't spin pencils for Kazumi.
"I WILL WIN THE PENCIL-SPINNING CHAMPIONSHIP FOR ASAKURA-SAN!!!" Yeah, that won't happen, lawl.
Of course many Konosetsu fans probably like KonoSetsu FOR that reason (and others, obviously), and I have no problem with it, it sounds romantic anyway. It just isn't my thing. (That won't stop me from writing a KonoSetsu scene in any story I write whenever I get Writer's Block, lawl. Awesome cannon fodder!)
There are several dozen bonuses on Kazumi too. Her personality is the core. She's hot. She has awesome hair. Her hair colour is awesome too (I like KazuSayo's colour of red and white (GO CANADA! Or even Japan, XD) rather than KonoSetsu's colour of brown and black (What flag has those two colours?!)) Kazumi's voice is very unique. (And awesome. Jellophish is awesome). Her eyes are BLUE. . .or red. . .or purple. . .or I don't know. They should make up their mind, I'll go with blue. And it contrasts nicely with Sayo's red eyes. 8D. She's not too tall, yet not short like hell. (Which also fits her personality) And it's not like she has to be brash all the time, her singing in Egao no Hana is soft and cute. Now, if a character like Kazumi who acts quite indecently as a 10-year-old can be in the most purest and cute pairing like KazuSayo, then Kazumi really must win. Obviously Sayo helps her with her ULTIMATE INNOCENCE...which actually isn't that innocent since she knows what the word sadist means and realizes that when Kazumi screws Chachamaru, it looks like sex. XD Hey, maybe finding a doujin of them humping like pigs isn't too impossible after all.
Finally, even though I wrote like four paragraphs on KazuSayo...I'm not SET on that pairing. As I've said, friendship would be completely fine with me, and I ALSO love the pairing ChisameKazumi (because of a CERTAIN doujin, and several fanfics), then again, I love ChisamexEverybody. (Simply because pairing up a person who hates everybody WITH everybody is incredibly amusing) But if Kazumi IS paired off with someone other than Sayo, I do not want to see one-sided KazuSayo because it makes me horribly sad. Sayo has enough loneliness already, and doing that just...gah. @_@. You're one cruel bitch if you do that. Strangely enough I'm not fond of other Sayo pairngs besides Kazumi. Maybe it's because it doesn't seem very realistic. Zazie can see her yes, but she probably scares the hell out of Sayo, and them pairing up just because of that one chapter REALLY doesn't work with me. Although, I don't mind ChisameSayo, 'cause as I've said before...it's hilarious. But this pairing isn't seen too often so blah. Then there's SayoxKonoemon....
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it IS realistic if you look at it from the first anime viewpoint (but the first anime failed, :X. EXCEPT episode 19...ugh) It's just...Konoemon is now old and ugly. His head is deformed. He obviously married to have Konoka's mother so she could marry Eishun and then they bang it up and have Konoka. Yeah, Sayo might have been a first crush of his or something, but it's been sixty years, he married. He had CHILDREN, THOSE CHILDREN had children. And then people are like, "BUT OMFG SAYO LOOKS LIKE KONOKA LOLOLOLOL" Well, Sayo died when she was 15. I HARDLY think a girl who seems so angelic and pure (well, maybe not as much) and a guy who became such a WISE man, who ISN'T a pervert (it'd make more sense if his personality was like that of his Live Action counterpoint) would bang it up with each other. Why would Sayo be a teenage mother!? And because she died when she was 15, chances are that if Sayo IS Konoka's grandmother, Sayo probably would be 14 when they...'did it'. EGADS. Then again, people say in the past a 14-year-old girl married like, a 40 year old guy. But I highly doubt Konoemon is THAT old. Maybe he was 20 then? Oh great, I'm only adding points that Sayo actually IS Konoka's grandmother, lol.
But really, no matter how many points you give that are pro-she is her grandmother, it's still a VERY unlikely theory. It'd be too conicidental that Sayo just HAPPENED to be her grandmother. Akamatsu isn't a shit writer, not like Kishimoto, who revealed that the 4th Hokage is Naruto's dad. I know everybody thought that MUST be true 'cause they looked so similar! But a good writer wouldn't go on such an obvious (and cliche) path! How was that shocking? >>;
Of course, I wouldn't mind if Sayo had a sister (like the anime) and SHE is who Konoemon married, thus why Sayo and Konoka look alike. It's mostly because we don't know who this sister became or what her personality is like, if she even exists. (In canon, that is) So, really there's many possibilities.
Damn, how did a Kazumi rant turn into a SAYO IS NOT KONOKA'S GRANDMOTHER rant? I thought I covered that already. D:
Well, to end this rather long entry. My favourite character...ever...is Kazumi Asakura. Am I biased? Probably, but I really think that. If I go on and have another obsession which doesn't have a great as impact as Kazumi has, and then say Kazumi is still the biggest one, then it is true. This is just what I claim for now.
Oh, speaking of grandmothers and granddaughters, I heard of a story in the US where a little girl took the gun from her grandmother and shot herself. (thankfully she did not die, but that is rather amusing) Just think:
Konoka: *takes Sayo's gun* Oooh, pretty toy...
