The Personalities of Iggy and Koho

Been almost two months since I got these fluffballs, and at first they seemed like strangers entering my house, now I'm pretty familiar with them :). I like to compare them to other hamsters where I had more than one. (Never had more than two though) Their personality is easier to see if you watch how they interact with each other!

First I'd like to say that they are somewhat similar to Otter and Asako but at the same time not. For example, when Iggy and Koho squabble it is FAR less one-sided than Otter and Asako. (Otter wins 90% of the time) Iggy and Koho are pretty even though I'd give Iggy the edge.

I successfully trained Iggy and Koho to do one thing that I was unable to do with Solo (probably because I attempted to too late in her life) which is always willing to be picked up. Solo would run away ALL the time, despite whenever she gets picked up she is given a treat. Since I started to do this with Iggy and Koho at first, they are both always EAGER to come be held which is far more successful than I even expected. This is the first any hamster has been eager. It is one thing for a hamster to be like "Okay I'll be picked up" it is another thing for them to be: "OMG PICK ME UP PICK ME UP FOOOOODZ!!!"

Koho is routinely obsessed with standing on his hind legs like a dog. It is one thing to do it in the bin where the only way to see me is to look up, it is another thing to do ALL OVER THE PLACE, when I am obviously at the side and staring upwards is pointless. He also, like a dog, will stand up on his hind legs if you hover a finger over him, but I haven't experimented if he follows yet.

Although not as fast as Otter, Iggy shares Otter's love of running under things. What they have in difference is that Iggy chews everything. I think he chews more than Koho. Iggy is also much bolder than Otter, Asako, and Koho combined, perhaps rivalling the boldness of Hammy. It is often Iggy who jumps off the table, off the chair, off my lap. He does not seem to have a fear of heights. I had a long tube in the bin, and there was about 15 holes in it by the time I was changing the bin.

Iggy is also the first, and thus only hamster I have to seen to climb up on TOP of the blue house. He clearly is bold, able and willing to go to the unknown. It would be funny if he slept up there, similar to how Snoopy sleeps on top of his doghouse. If Iggy had the amazing ability of Solo to sleep anywhere in any position no matter what, I bet he would.

Koho is also the first of my hamsters to sit on my palm calm-like. Though he has not been doing this lately, but before he would just sit there and I could pet him. Sometimes I wish more hamsters were like this, instead of running all over the place.

Once again, strangely enough actually, Iggy is my only hamster he likes to bury himself in shavings. Other hamsters either just make a hole and lie in there or something.
Koho always always always sleeps in his blue house, more than any other hamster. He seems to like living in there.

They also sleep in tubes because I tried not to pick them up while they're sleeping in tubes, which seems to discourage other hamsters of mine from sleeping in there :X

In short, I think Koho is like a dog. Standing on hind legs, sometimes obedient, sometimes not, with that cute look on his face that resembles a dog standing on its hind legs for a treat.
Iggy is like a cat, especially an outdoors cat, exploring but always returning home, though he has doglike tendencies if he chews everything. :)

Headcanon

I did not know what this word meant until I entered the very popular and somewhat unsettling fandom that is Hetalia. And so due to the nature of the characters everyone has a different headcanon, albeit some may be boring. Due to the influence of several RPs, fanart, fanfic, etc. my handcanon of Hong Kong has drastically changed from before.

In one of my older posts I described how Hong Kong was this manly (though not the the degree of Korea) badass character. He was emotionless and deadpan, and that was pretty much it, but I still liked him. His design was nice, he reminded me of my daily life since I'm Chinese and we go out for Dim Sum and such, so I probably was being very patriotic with him despite never having been to Hong Kong.

I'm not actually from there, but my parents are from mainland China. However the China character himself is so diverse with so much culture that it was kind of overwhelming and thus hard to associate myself with him. I am proud to be Chinese despite knowing little of the language. I think Chinese school actually discouraged me from the language and I ended up forgetting it. I like to believe that if I never went there, I could still speak it. :C (I DO speak it somewhat, just...not to the degree of when I was a child...)

Anyway, since my parents were from a little village in Guangdong, where lots of Hong Kong people seem to be influenced by, it is no wonder I feel pride with Hong Kong. You could also argue that I should feel pride with Canada too, and I do. I love hockey. I love French. I love the Us in Canadian spelling and I think American's are retarded and stupid, and his character is very awesome. It's just strange to see a character yearn for so much attention, and perhaps in real life, politics, and the canon itself he is invisible, but in fandom he is just all over the place. The popularity of him kind of ruins his point, but oh well. I do like Canada and Matthew.

And to possibly offend Hong Kong people, I think the actual people of Hong Kong are loud and obnoxious and rude, but hey that's just stereotyping and generalizing, the culture itself is wonderful. (Richmond drivers are bastards!) Then again my parents are somewhat loud and rude but I think the culture differences is what makes them "loud and rude". For example, to a Westerner slurping soup may be rude, but my parents do that all the time because in Chinese culture slurping is a sign of respect meaning they enjoy the food.

Anyway back to the point, my headcanon of Hong Kong has drastically changed. He has now become a socially awkward, sexually frustrated teenage boy who is somewhat girly and is a complete downright loser.

That is a complete turn-around from badass and deadpan and awesome. But again I still love him! He is so cute this way too, though I found him cute with the previous headcanon, this way is much more direct about it. And when I say loser I mean LOSER. As in he denies but it's actually the truth of liking things like the Jonas Brothers or High School Musical. Besides his regular "I LOVE KUNG FU" stuff, he admires Zac Efron and even GASP reads Twilight. (Though not as big of a fan of that, even I cringe at going any further. Lol.)

He also believes that Bruce Lee >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> everybody EVER, especially Jackie Chan (don't ask) and he tends to forget important dates. He's just...much more of a loser, but still has composure and STILL doesn't smile often. He also likes to fap, but I think every teenage boy does. He still obviously likes his own popstars, and secretly Korean drama, and other...Korean things... ;)

...complete turn-around. :X
But what an adorable loser.

Politics

I don't normally talk about current events, and while I am very happy those Americans passed that Healthcare bill, the reactions from some very conservative people were completely utterly WTF filled. Now not all conversatives are like that I know. I know a very smart and intelligent American who is conservative, but some of these more extreme people are baffling. I saw some images of them protesting with ridiculous things like how Obama is communist and listens to Mao and everything. They think they're being oppressed, and that some sort of holocaust-like event will happen. The healthcare bill is for poor lazy folk and robbing those who work hard. It just...baffles me how stupid they are being.

Now, the healthcare bill is far from perfect, but it's better than anything they have now. If they think their lives are in danger because a HALF-black president is in power then...I really wish I could ship them all to a REAL communist country and see how that feels. Look how happy those Nordic countries are with their socialism, which does NOT equal something stupid and extreme as the USSR (though they did still call it socialism, this is a less...stupid approrach.)

Speaking of which I hate how everyone says Obama is the first black president. He's half, and isn't even that dark to begin with but people from both sides saying he is their saviour or calling him the devil...I know at least some of them say that solely because of the race they THINK he is. He does want to do good for America, and that is good but we all should be realistic. A lot of the things that should happen to that country will not happen in four years, it might take a lot of time and hard work. Any good president whether they are black, white, asian, hispanic, alien, dog...as long as they aren't crippling liars like most politicians, they're good to go.

So let's not care about his race or whatever. Another retarded American point I must speak of is Chicago's olympic bid for the 2016 Olympics, was it? Why did they think they had a good chance of winning? Seriously, what's so great about Chicago? When people think about going to America they think about New York, Washington DC, they think about Disneyland, Disney World, Hollywood, etc. I highly doubt there are a lot of people who dream of one day visiting Chicago, USA. Secondly there's been five million olympic events in America already. I'm glad it went to Rio, though I was silently cheering for Madrid. (Tokyo had a low chance due to Beijing, but I still don't see that as fair. If you can have lots of Olympics in the West why do you have to wait before revisitng someplace in the East? Tokyo is very different from Beijing.)

Of course I never really imagined that going to Rio was my dream destination either, but South America needs a chance doesn't it? And if the Beijing Olympics affected Tokyo's chances, I bet our (albeit the Winter variety) Olympics affected Chicago. ;) Vancouver 2010 woot! I predict it will rain for the entire two olympic weeks! WOO!

Which brings me to another point. Hong Kong people love to gamble. My uncle is an avid horse racing fan, betting and watching. My other uncle who comes to visit sometimes likes to visit every casino in the Lower Mainland at least once before departing. It is no wonder that the Equestrianism events of the Beijing Olympics was in Hong Kong ;)

And finally to end this long post a cute video: (It seems my broken camera can do close-up video very well O: )
