Crap! Sheer hilarious crap.
Mar. 20th, 2007 08:01 pmI just found episode 19, and yes, of all episodes, 19, DUBBED on Youtube (after they took off all the Negima!? episodes due to copyright crap) And wow, and I thought Sayo sounded bad, why the hell does Kazumi sound like a sarcastic smartass bitch!?
But the dialogue is hilarious.
For example, in the sub, Kazumi asks if Asuna has any scoops lately, and Asuna says she never knows anything that Kazumi doesn't know. In the dub, Asuna just said, "I heard the cafeteria food is going to SUCK today, if that's any story" xDD
But some dialogue sucks. (I CAN remember the dialogue from the sub, so I can easily compare)
First in the sub, it was awesome because Kazumi said, "FIFTY THOUSAND YEN ON LINCHO!!!" (betting) But all she said in the dub is, "I'll bet my lunch money on Ayaka"
THE LUNCH MONEY BETTER BE FIFTY THOUSAND YEN (or roughly 500 dollars canadian)
Setsuna sounds worse than Kazumi...holy shiz...
xDDD, more hilarious dialogue, "Sorry, I'd think of something but it's all the same crap." I love all the slang. "Well that sucks"
THIS DIALOGUE IS HYSTERICAL.
"HOLY CRAP! A GHOST!"
"Your group will bore her to death"
"She's already dead, IDIOT!"
Seriously, if they were allowed to swear, Kazumi would be a potty mouth, she said CRAP three times, xD. Really, compare:
"Aisaka Sayo! YUREI!?" to "HOLY CRAP! A GHOST!"
All the hilarious dialogue killed the momentum though. It's supposed to be a sad story, and we get, "This sucks!" "You're an idiot!" "I can only think of a load of crap!" Also, when the class were asked if there was anybody left out from the groups for Kyoto, in the sub they all said, "YES!" because Negi asked if the groups are fine, but here he asks is anybody is left out, so everybody said, "NO!". It was the most snobbish 'no' I've ever heard in my entire life. xDDD
Also, they don't change any of the Japanese writing to English at all, so when Sayo steps on the wooden board that had her little sister's writing on it, it all had Japanese and well it'd be SADDER if people knew what was written on it, so it was kind of...nonsensical just because of not translating that part. Another nitpick is they actually TELL you how Sayo died. Sayo said, as she was narrating her second flashback, "I wanted to protect my little sister's dream...then I got really sick." That tells you that the storm made her sick and thus she died, but in the original it never explains. Not explaining is a better way than explaining. >><<>>
The pronunciation of their names annoy me though, as always in dubs. It's not SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYO, it's SA-YO, sometimes SAI-YO, if you listen carefully. It's not Ka-ZU-mi...it's KA-zu-mi. Plus they never really say Kazumi in the original unless saying Asakura Kazumi's full name, so comparing is kind of hard. I mostly hate how they say Asuna though, a-SOOOOO-na is a nono, it's AHH-su-na. Oh, and I love Sasagawa Ayana's OVERDRAMATIC GASP than whoever dubbed Kazumi's voice's "Setsuna Natsu OVA Konoka's spine" gasp. OMG, Konoka's voice in the dub always hurts my ears, and I'm just surprised that Kazumi's "Talk to the hand, bitch" voice is the same voice actor as Konoka's "OMGTHAT'SACOOLDRESSTOTALLYCHIPMUNK" voice.
I guess I'll give it a rating for it's a dubbed episode:
Plot: 25/10 (if you expected less, shame on you)
Dialogue: 9/10 (It ain't perfect due to the momentum, but it's high due to the hilarity)
Dubbing: 10/10 (Didn't notice anything cut out)
Voice Acting: 6/10 (The first time I heard everybody it was horrible, but I suppose it isn't that bad. However Kazumi's voice definitely did not fit her personality, and Setsuna's voice plain sucked, worse than everybody else)
Animation: 8/10 (It's the same animation that gave Makie 6 fingers! =D)
Slash: 11/10 (Oh baby, oh baby)
Overall: 9.5/10
Quote of the week: "HOLY CRAP! A GHOST!" -Kazumi
R-P0T3: Ayaka/Yuuna
