So, checked up on the status of Negima after a lot of SP splurging, and well...remember that one post where I was ranting quite a bit about ghosts not being able to be petrified?

GodDAMNit!
Now please continue reading for Yuuna's grand exit:

Yuuna assesses the situation. Only three spikes at Yuuna, Fate? Bahahaha.

Put those drugs into action! She does her best to defend her friends!

The sacrifice.

And there you have it ladies and gentlemen, Sayo and especially Yuuna have left the stage. (Kazumi is sad. Thus Spotto is sad. Awww. I have no clue if Sayo saved Nodoka or Kazumi. I mean the fact that Nodoka reacted makes me think it was for Nodoka, but she was on Kazumi's shoulder (and it didn't look like it was heading directly at Nodoka, since Sayo was hit next to her?)...either way, a very noble sacrifice.)

This was a great chapter actually, but I'm sad that two of my favourite characters have been knocked out this early (Yuuna and Sayo) but they actually saved everyone's lives! (Well, mostly Yuuna) and I'm actually wondering what the purpose of stoning Sayo is. I like to think Akamatsu has a reason for everything he does, and I can't imagine what the purpose of taking out the ghost when I don't really see her playing much of a role in the future anyway. I mean, if you don't want to draw her for the next stash of chapters it's fine to leave her off panel, and I can't imagine what advantage she'd have that would need to be taken out this early, something Nodoka is often taken out for.

I'd say the same for Yuuna but I suppose she might have a slight edge. I'm just less bothered by her being taken out because of her "last words", as quoted from Vetus, a Negima blogger who does a lot of awesome translations:

Is it gonna be me?

Course it is!

The mysterious adventures of Yuuna-chan’s summer vacation…

…will have its climax here!!

She knew her role and took it, deflecting away all the petrifying spikes with her last bullets, and taking one for the team to save Makie. I mean, that was just awesome. Yuuna has been really awesome this arc. I'm still somewhat disappointed this might be all she does for now, but you know...she has done a lot. Well done Yuuna, well done. I was reading some discussion on this chapter and a majority of it is actually "Can't Sayo just escape her doll?" but especially "IS YUUNA BROKEN!? LOOK AT THOSE CRACKS AND SHATTERED STUFF! IS SHE INJURED/DEAD?!!??!" Lololol.

And if you have absolutely NO idea what's going on...they planned their rescue to get Asuna back after Negi was taken out by one of the subbosses earlier on, but still (to my amazement, yet I completely expected it) went with a plan to get Asuna and the super awesome gamebreaking key that can revive the illusion people who were pillow-disintegrated (it makes sense in context) and this is their plan. The "casualties" have started. (Still going through with it without Negi...shows how far these characters have come, truly. Even if their odds are low, they're trying anyway. It's simply astonishing how this comes to be after more than three hundred chapters.)

Well, I've already come to terms that people don't die in this series, but that was still very badass Yuuna. Way to go.
