Yes, she is the pony most likely involved and therefore familiar with the activity of gossiping, likely having fewer qualms about it hurting a pony's feelings and the such. The problem with how this went about in the episode itself is that the slanderized stories of the other ponies were just that, slanderized stories or embarrassing moments. For Rarity herself it wasn't something dumb she did, IT WAS HER MOTHERFUCKING DIARY.

And she handled it pretty well too when she confronted Sweetie Belle! But everypony else just slams their doors in the CMC's faces without trying to be reasonable at all!

WHAT THE FUCK, SWEETIE BELLE. Spying on Fluttershy putting tail extensions on is one thing, PUBLISHING AN ENTIRE DIARY IS A WHOLE NEW LEAGUE OF EVIL. I do not claim that Rarity DOESN'T have double standards, but because the "gossip" involved with her is so much more serious it's kind of hard to immediately yell at her for being an idiot who only cares when it affects her. THE FACT THAT SHE POINTS OUT SHE WAS SNOOPING IN SWEETIE BELLE'S BAG AS A REASON WHAT SHE DID WAS WRONG WAS GOOD, and it ALSO painted the fact that Rarity knew what she did was WRONG TOO.

These ponies are not without their flaws but if I see one of more of these stupid people screaming about Rarity's behaviour I will UPPERCUT THEM WITH THE CORNER OF MY KEYBOARD.
